Ad Astra is possibly my favorite movie of 2019, and it's a shame that it wasn't recognized the way it should have been. The film is downright beautiful and it was no surprise to me that I was going to make my own edit for it. This is my favorite edit to date because it made me think about my life while I made it. I hope you all enjoy, and if you haven't, please buy or even rent Ad Astra.
It is a stunning movie.

I like how he says “Why go on? Why keep trying?” Something that never gets old about this masterpiece is his use of voice over narrative which I always enjoy listening to. Makes me like him more.

I wish I had the wisdom and experience and inner knowledge to voice those words on my own. The rage analysis scene. I know that rage, I've felt that rage, I don't want to be that guy, but when you strip it all away, it's just hurt. So powerful! What an incredible movie. It may be called a science fiction movie, but it's a life story. We Injure each other so easily without even realizing it. And the dad's explanation was spot on, be may now feel regret, but he honestly spoke to his son and said I didn't care. More truth than most of us realize. Outstanding writing and acting. One of my top 10 personal favorites.

I think the experience has been that we are more comfortable together inside a female body than in a male. Brad was a female Kitty Cat turned male in the first place and Angelina was certainly beautiful, David 😂 but… time to rest up and explore the new mega Dust Storm. From what I have seen, it’s awesome on Mercury and Saturn looks wonderful as well.

Why do we go on? I wonder. I am so touched by your work on this. The film made such a lasting impression especially now as I grow older and look back on life with my dad. I'm putting something together myself, and as I came across this I felt it would add a great deal to what I'm about to do. Let me know when you can if you would allow - I'll give you credit for your piece, of course. Namaste' CM

Hey Cirr0sLITE, I don’t recognize the flashbacks scenes because it’s been a long time since I last saw it. I thought maybe you might know what they are as you edited the video. Like the one at 5:40 where Clifford says, “We’re a dying breed Roy.” and the other one before of the child getting hugged. What’s happening in those? Please let me know as soon as you can.

So It's been about 2 years since I worked on this edit. Bear with me here, and I may wrong, but I think the flashback shots were shown when he is on the long journey to Neptune. This would be just after he snuck onto the space craft leaving Mars that was on its way to Neptune. He tries to board it peacefully, but ends up killing the three astronauts on board. As he is barely holding onto his own psyche, isolated on the space craft, he keeps thinking about home, and his past. Those flashback shots were shown briefly in the movie, but they were there to remind him of home and his family. The shot of his girlfriend/wife (I believe girlfriend) at the windmills with her jacket was shown, and the shots of him when he was young was also shown. I don't remember exactly why I put them in where I did. I think I felt they just fit there with that speech, or maybe juxtaposed to the video. They were very briefly shown in the movie, kinda _you blink and you miss it _ clips. I hope that maybe gives a little more insight.

David, welcome home. And you didn’t let the degenerate take over you. The demons here on Earth asked that degenerate to die over to kill us in our neighborhood. Sorry about being so mean to you and criticized your actions of tempering with the images. You know how important it is for us to provide the most accurate images, sounds, and information for ourselves and later generations. I am proud of you for not giving up. Many did.

Joe really is a problem and I don’t know whether flesh eating has ever stopped in the Universe but the apocalypse always comes with Joe Faden becoming the President. And that event is always preceded by Donald Trump’s presidency. They have killed us too many times for us to have coherent memories but luckily Pluto and Venus are forever and maintain the records and send us these videos so we can expand our understanding of ourselves and of events.

Visuals were great, but science and the logic of the premise & spaceship mechanics were all over the place lmfao. Riding Nuclear Blast to travel back makes no sense without sturdy dampner that can withstand sharpnels/a bit of ejecta, and the fact that going to Neptune will make it easier to spot aliens signals makes no sense considering the end of heliosphere is wayyy out of Neptune. Might as well just have large EM telescope on Moon or even higher earth orbit if that atmosphere is really bothering with signals, which usually isn't a big deal. Finally, using ion engines that turn on all the way to Neptune to reach acceptable speed to land that large entire vessel on Mars... WHAT?

I think the fact that is was scientifically overlooked is what made the reception so low, but still a great masterpiece, and besides, the story is set in the future so I’m guessing James Gray was on to something. The man was 50 when he made this.
