Toad In The Hole

Here is a video of my toad in the hole with selected vegetables. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts.
Prep time around 5 minutes.
Cooking time, around 45 minutes
Cost around £3.00
Feeds 2-6 people.
Ingredients and method:
• 100g/3½oz plain flour
• ¼ tsp salt
• Black pepper
• Sprinkle of pepper
• 3 large free-range eggs
• 225ml/8fl oz milk (150ml full fat & 75ml semi skimmed)
• 4 tbsp. sunflower oil
• 6-12 skinless sausages
1. Preheat the oven to 220C/ fan 200C Fan/Gas 7.
2. Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the eggs and a little of the milk. Whisk until smooth, then gradually add the remaining milk and Wisk thoroughly then leave to stand.
Finely slice 1 onion, place sausages into glass dish and put the onions on top, drizzle with 4 tbsp oil and heat in the oven 20 minutes, remove from oven and pour the batter over then return to the oven for another 20 = 25 minutes.

Looks fantastic. Great rise on the batter, love the idea of adding onions. I'd prefer different sausages, but they cost an arm and a leg nowadays!

I did a temporary duty to Lakenheath many years ago. Had my first Toad in the Hole. I nearly relinquished my American citizenship and swore fealty to the Queen once the brown gravy arrived 🤣I've tried to make it, but I'm not sure if it's the ingredients in the US or my skill level, but it just doesn't taste the same. One day I'll return to the UK and have a proper one again.

She is a beauty mate, that's for sure 👌 Me and my missus usually have toad in the hole once a week so it's always nice to try a new take - the oven cooked sausages and onions in this video look great bud so we will definitely be trying your recipe 👍

you have to use a proper pork Banger… you just do those chipotles are not going to cut it

Thanks for your input but It's up to the individual as to what bangers to use, this is just the recipe and method, all my recopies are tasty but intended to be affordable.
