@@--_DJ_-- As a shop owner/operator myself i also work on a lot of neat client cars. Is it cool and fun to work on them? sure. Would I give up my own thing if any of them offered me a full time job? hell no. Not only have I invested a lot of time and money into my own thing, I also enjoy doing my own thing and the freedom that comes with that. The money isnt even a factor for me. You dont need to have everyone under the same roof to be successful.

Gotta say the focus on safety around toast is pretty cool to see. No big rippage until you had the suit and helmet on. Checking for the fire extinguisher before getting it started. Really cool little insight into what goes on in the background of these machines.

That was great that Kevin got Toast sorted out.Having also worked on a lot of blown alcohol engines I might suggest going one step further before you run it a lot more.You should set the leakdown on the barrel valve at approx 80%.Those egt numbers at 1200 at idle are really high should be in the 500-600 range and go up to 1000-1050 under load.Normally we have found you start feeding the aluminum gods at 1200+.It will also give it a better idle lope and set the idle at 2100 rpm to start

@@n2vxc leroy and ruby hacks go both ways, having both cars running was more important at the time then spending an extra month doing it properly(don't forget that Ruby was a throw away car that they never intended on making a 7 second car). but like with most people if it works why fix it.... until it ends up biting you in the ass later. but as you've seen that way of thinking has been steadily going away now that it's not just James and Cleetus working on the cars.

Big shoutout to whoever for the “let’s get a helmet”! I cringe whenever anyone is out there without one. Garrett is guilty of slacking on his helmet rule recently in the “testing” videos. Even playing around with the High Cat drifting it could’ve snapped something in the suspension and sent you guys over one of the light pole mound ramps. Stay safe out there fellas!

With the small fire you had in Warbird, and with fire a serious possibility, please install a fire extinguisher or some sort of suppression system in Toast. I'd hate for anyone to get injured in that beast. That being said, the burnout at 6:05 behind the shop was epic, the mic couldn't handle it!

Agreed. A fire suppression system is a small cost that could save a life and the car. Even 24 hour of lemons requires them now. Methanol fires are also notoriously nasty because they don't *look* that big, but they throw off plenty of heat and toxic fumes.

The mic couldn’t handle it because they film on a iPhone. If they put a decent mic on it, it should be way better. I put a $40 one on mine and it worked wonders.

Did you hear Cleeter say Warbird has a limiter on how far the hat will open? It only opens maybe a 1/4 of the way so you can hold the pedal down without giving it to much fuel. The same way a throttle-stop works on a top fuel car for the burnout.

Methanol is really hard on rubber as Kevin stated. I wonder if it would be worth it to set up the fuel system in Toast to switch over and run race gas in the car long enough to purge the alky from the system when you know the car is going to sit for a while, it also make sit easy to start on cold days. Used to pull out of a 2 gallon jug to purge the sprint car engines when we were shut down for more than a couple weeks...

I love Kevin. I started watching his channel when he was working on mullet. His work is amazing. He is the perfect example of you pay for my experience not how long it takes me to figure out and fix the problem. Always nice to see him on this channel. You guys should look into putting bars under the oil pan. Like removable bars side by side to act as skies if the car ever bottom out. Just for the fact that y'all beat the crap out of the cars on RMRW. Something strong to protect it but light enough so it wouldn't make a difference. An like I said make it removable. An with the bars y'all could put a pan in between the bars an the oil pan for a catch. And obviously like I said make it removable so that way you can service everything.
