The funniest part of this whole thing it was a dare by one of his band memebers. They said he couldn't come up with a song about a red solo cup or something, so this was really meant to be a joke song and turned into a hit. And just so everyone know this music video they did in one take and all of them where drunk as hell.

Cool story, but not true. I saw him in an interview & he said these guys approached him with the song & he said it was the stupidest song he had ever heard& it reminded him of college. He said if they did it with him, he would record it. They are the guys playing the instruments & crowded around him when he talks to the 'Solo cup God's'.

@@cathybrookeburt2616 So I did look it up I was wrong about him writing a song might have been another song he did that with idk. But also from what I reading not looking like they approach him, looked like someone else heard it and showed Toby it and that how he found out about it. (Still sure it was a band member but again might be wrong.) I legit thought I heard once it was one of his band memebers saying like he couldn't turn this into a hit or something. But again might be thinking of another song.

At our family picnics, blue solo cups are for non-alcoholic drinks. It's a big deal for the first BBQ when someone turns 21 and officially has a RED solo cup!

Actually this song was written by the Warren Brothers and they pitched it to Toby and he said it was the dumbest song he ever heard; but, he would record it if they were in the video. After the one guy pees in the cup and the other guy drinks it; the brothers are seen one playing the guitar and the other sitting next to him. Then again to the left of Toby when he is idolizing the cup.

I've been a Toby fan forever it feels like and I thought he wrote all his own songs.. and he pretty much did.. except this one... he recorded this because he said it was so off the wall funny....he just did it. Thank you Toby and RIP.. too funny He was awesome

Two things, 1. Toby Keith was named one of the newest member of the Country Music Hall Of fame on (3-18-24) 2. The two guys at the 4:14 mark are The Warren Brothers, Brett and Brad Warren they have written songs for Martina McBride, Tim McGraw , VanZant , few others ,they also have their own songs , like "Change", " Hey Mr. President", "Whole Lot Of Beers", "Guilty" " The Beat Of The Heart "with Sara Evans, "Where Dose It Hurt" , "Greyhound Bus" , "What We Can't Have " , pick any of these songs and you won't be disappointed.
