February 25, 1931, marks the theatrical premiere for this, the seventh of twelve "Toby the Pup"-cartoons. Art Davis collaborated with Sid Marcus and Dick Huemer on the animations, whilst the two latter co-directed this vintage gem.
Working as a milkman, not the best or most honest there ever was, Toby and his trusted draft-horse toils away, for about a whole minute. When the clock strikes six Toby dresses up all dandy and braves a sudden storm to reach a festive barn dance.
Toby's rather uncanny resemblance to the Fleischer brothers' "Bimbo" stems from the fact that when Charles Mintz (the man behind the "Krazy Kat"-cartoons) wanted to create a new character he hired Sid Marcus and Dick Huemer, two former animators at the Fleischer Studios.
