The beginning of this makes me think about the fast arpegios by Philip Glass in metamorphosis... 🤔 very nice!!! I had never heard this instrument before, it sounds great... by the way, I also came from Rob's channel!!

Yeah, I feel you buddy. Went from death metal to rock/folk and now I'm playing the hurdy gurdy and wanting more classical instruments like this. Because damn they're cool and those sounds are amazing.

I'm so sorry for being such a jerk, but the music that is played here is called a piece, not a song: a song is often not older that a century and is of course sung in contrairy to this heavenly music

@@666piedro I think they composed new melodic lines for the Baroque guitar, which they superimposed over the theorbo's arpeggiated chord progressions, adding a new dimension to the piece, in my opinion. It really reminds me of Michael Nyman's "re-composed" versions of Baroque and Classical period pieces in his scores for many of Peter Greenaway's films.

I've heard this so many times on other instruments, but I think this is the first time I've heard it on Theorbo... Is this the instrument it was intended for? It's truly stunning. A beautiful piece of music that is only complimented by your expertise.

Very interesting sound. Very sharp but even more intriguing to listen and I can't shake off the feeling that the Theorbo kind of sounds like a weird harp.

Gee, I hadn't realized this til I took a closer look - NINE frets to the body?! The fret-to-fret distance is INSANE! My noodle is shorting out trying to figure out length of scale and intonation, etc. Somehow it works!
