From what I gather, the story goes something like this: The foam man is not happy with his life, so he carves out a new version of himself in the shape of a tombstone to symbolize the death of his previous self. His new self is much happier with his life, but parts of his old self still linger around him, he then notices the old parts of himself and indulges in them, essentially watering the thoughts. as time passes, he adopts those thoughts into his new self, letting his old self slowly take over. Eventually the parts of his old self rips his new self apart, and in that moment the foam man realizes that he can only be himself and comes to accept who he is.

@@succulentravioli954 first, something that is cursed doesn't mean that it can't have meaning. Second, this has literally no meaning apart from intending to creep you out. i dare you to try and think of a valid metaphor that all of this video represents without any holes. some things are meant to simply exist y'know. look at the forums this was initially posted in.
@succulentravioli9543 жыл бұрын
@@earthpcCHClS What I said may have been ambiguous. I meant that it is not cursed from my opinion, not that it is not cursed because it has meaning. I am no literature expert, but there can be many metaphorical things that can pulled out from this, even those that aren't intended by the author. The eerie music paired with the scenes isn't something you'd find with conventional comedy. We can conclude that this piece's context isn't for humor, but for some other purpose. Did author take their time to make this to express some kind of emotion or message? And what kind of emotion or message? I'm not someone who is good a metaphors, but I can surely justify that this video has other meaning than to portraying cursed emotions.

this song is the intro to the album "deathconsciousness" by Have A Nice Life... it's wild to me that this video was uploaded just 11 days after the release of some unknown band's debut album that initially made zero splash outside of internet message boards. how did this person come across it? did they already have the idea for this video in mind? did this song inspire them to make it? also. one time i started listening to "deathconsciousness" and fell asleep, and I awoke from a horrible dream in a panic as this ambient noise rock crashed down around me and the lyrics muttered something unintelligible but I just knew in my gut were about desperately wanting to die & become dust. i have never again been able to listen to that album. so this video fills me with a quiet dread. today is the day.

'Today Is The Day' is a youtube video uploaded in 2008. The video is very bizzare and sends many mixed messages, however my interpretation is as follows: The foam figure we see is representative of a once loving and fulfilled marriage. However, as the foam figure awakes, we see that the mundane life and unchanging nature of stability has caused meloncholy in the husband. Who then decides today is the day. The cutting of the foam flesh of the protagonists is the rending of the family through a divorce. Without their other half both partners are empty. The husband then leaves. The foot represents what was left behind and went unoticed by the husband. The wife was pregnant at the time of the divorce and hadn't realized it. The struggles of being a single mother paired with the uncanny ressemblence the children had of their father(seen as the cut out eyes on both as representative of genes) she reached out to reconnect. Upon seeing his children, the father decided to repair his family. And while it isn't the same. It is still whole again. Though somethings can not be mended.

To me, this tells a story of a person who is unhappy whit himself. So one day he decides to start over and be a different person. So he cuts out his core and throws the rest away. Be he starts missing parts of his old life so he takes those parts back and cuts of the leg from the old body. But these parts of himself (his old habits) start to take over with the help of the little paper people (his subconscious thoughts) and kill his new self, and he eventually goes back to the way he was stuck in a neverending cycle of self-loathing and guilt.

He thought his life would be better if he changed himself. When he did, he lost a part of himself he couldn't live without, and one night he realized that. He slept with the memory of what he was, and it haunted him. When he couldn't bear it, he looked for himself and he found it. The key was there and it was time (you can see these literally in the video). And so he came back to his senses.

Paper humans may be tied into theological meanings (angels?). Face turning into clock representing time troubling you, time is of the essence and you're changing with time. Ingredients For the filling 575g Bramley apple (3 medium apples), peeled, cored and sliced to 1cm thick 2 tbsp golden caster sugar For the crumble 175g plain flour 110g golden caster sugar 110g cold butter For the topping (optional) 1 tbsp rolled oats 1 tbsp demerara sugar double cream , clotted cream or custard, to serve Method STEP 1 Heat the oven to 190C/170 fan/gas 5. STEP 2 Toss 575g peeled, cored and sliced Bramley apples with 2 tbsp golden caster sugar and put in a 23cm round baking dish at least 5cm deep, or a 20cm square dish. Flatten down with your hand to prevent too much crumble falling through. STEP 3 Put 175g plain flour and 110g golden caster sugar in a bowl with a good pinch of salt. STEP 4 Slice in 110g cold butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture looks like moist breadcrumbs. Shake the bowl and any big bits will come to the surface - rub them in. Alternatively, pulse in a processor until sandy (don’t over-process). STEP 5 Pour the crumb mix over the apples to form a pile in the centre, then use a fork to even out. STEP 6 Gently press the surface with the back of the fork so the crumble holds together and goes crisp, then lightly drag the fork over the top for a decorative finish. STEP 7 Sprinkle 1 tbsp rolled oats and 1 tbsp demerara sugar over evenly, if you wish. STEP 8 Set on a baking tray and put in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden and the apples feel very soft when you insert a small, sharp knife. Leave to cool for 10 minutes before serving. RECIPE TIPS PEELING APPLES If you do this with a knife rather than a peeler, it is easier to cut them into quarters first. Alternatively, for a more rustic effect, leave the apples unpeeled. MAKE IT YOUR OWN If you make apple crumble all the time, you may feel like varying it. - Mix ½ tsp mixed spice, cinnamon or allspice, or the scraped seeds of half a vanilla pod, into the sugar when tossing apples - Add a handful of blackberries to the apples APPLE VARIETIES You can use other apples, rather than Bramley, for this recipe, but if you do, slice them thinly so they soften during baking, and test carefully with a knife before removing from oven. If I were to interpret a message from this it would be “coming to terms with the parts you don’t like about yourself, and accepting them”. “Today is the day” perhaps is the big foam guys day that he decides he’s going to change and be a different person (for whatever reason) so he literally cuts the pieces of himself he does not like. emerges a dopey looking foam chunk that is smoking and stuff, and then the other bits of foam. Then he is dragging himself into the woods perhaps meaning he is lost. In the end he combines with his traits he does not like and even though it looks weird, he comes to accept those parts of him and moves on..or it could just be a random thing someone decided to make hah.

From my interpretation, I see a story of Creation. In the beginning, everything is whole, but also lacking. Either flat, discontent, or lonely. The foam has a plan shown at 0:16. The Knife, the Whole, the Sky. Through separation of the Whole, there is something open and beautiful to be had. The outcome is meant to be Good. When New Foam is created, it looks like Foam but then becomes an individual as the Separation is complete, and you can see it look down at the Knife the same time it is turning away to leave at 0:38. It doesn’t seem to fathom or care that it had been Separated. The New Foam leaves and has fun and drinks and smokes- a life of consumption and pleasure. Foam rises up again and uses the Knife again, giving a piece of itself that breaks down until it no longer looks like Foam. I think it could represent Children, to give New Foam responsibility. It could be literal children/other humans, or a metaphor for Mental or Physical Creation, what we create in the world. Either way, Foam had a plan for Good from the beginning, and after New Foam has a go at things (living by consumption), Foam gives it new meaning and purpose. But for the first time leaves the world (the house) and is now outside. New Foam follows instructions to make the Children/Creation and is no longer smiling, but instead surprised or curious, maybe even worried. And the Children/Creation seems to show even less emotion. When New Foam sleeps, the Children go somewhere that is unknown and separate to Foam and New Foam. The Children come back different, and tear apart New Foam. I think the little people are angels. Foam is alive the whole time but seems content to rest as long ad New Foam is living well. But doesn’t communicate directly. It didn’t interact when New Foam was created, and only rose to Separate it’s leg while New Foam was asleep. And sent the angels to tell New Foam to “add water. And when New Foam dies its the angel that goes and tells Foam what happened. And during the whole story, New Foam and the Children/Creation don’t know Foam, don’t recognize their origins, and don’t recognize each other as simply pieces of the Whole. They all went their own way, and when it ended in death, Foam came back into the world (the house) to make it Whole and it was a New Creation, not the same as before. What I thought was interesting was that everything has multiple faces and changes throughout the story except for Foam who is the Whole. But when Foam came back it showed MULTIPLE faces, and the Children/Creation reflected those faces BACK as if their oneness was now known or connected. Then Foam clears the faces with white spots, and a clock appears, their identity and time/space were wiped in the restoration. Then New Foam takes a key, taken from the remains of New Foam, and uses it to unlock something in the Children. IN BRIEF: Big Foam is God, and has a plan to make something beautiful. The little foams are Creation. They don’t recognize their origins and go astray, ending in conflict and death. Big Foam came back to restore wholeness.

Probably a metaphor for parenthood. The foam girl finally decides to have kids and cuts away her weird childhood self in order to be a "perfect parent". Note how the inner foam is a perfect rounded shape while the original has very jagged edges. When her kids are old enough, they rebel against her rigid standards and drive her to a breaking point. She decides that to be a good parent she needs her old, imperfect and silly self. The final scene with the clockface and keyhole is beautiful to me. The parent finally openning up to her kids and embracing her interests, and the kids immediately vibe with her.
