The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is now in a strange state of mind. They earnestly want people to spend money, and in line with this, its Central Bank has been printing money at a speed that’s the fastest in the world. On the other hand, they are unwilling to give the Chinese people a real break. They don’t seem to understand that the extra money printed hasn't been put into circulation. What’s really going on? We'll reveal the secret at the end of this episode.

They printed a lot, but they didn't give it to the people. They gave it to the banks. The banks are not lending any of it. So the money stay in the bank. But people have no access to it.

😂 Well, if the banks are simply storing the paper in their vaults then does it really exist in the community? Does the community benefit? Does China benefit from having thousands of unsold battery EVs sitting around in dozens of foreign ports for months at a time. If us non Chinese putative buyers are treated to videos of Chinese cars with chopstick axles and battery fires, not to mention quite high prices and very poor residuals are we likely to buy battery EVs? Not likely!

It's not that banks are not lending any of it; it's more that everyone's too anxious about the economy to even consider borrowing. That's the scary thing about deflation. Once people's property values and salaries starting falling, any interest on a loan you previously took becomes increasingly harder to pay off and old debts become crushing. That's why we hear rumors of Chinese homeowners literally just _giving_ their properties away under the condition that the buyer handles the mortgage.

At the supermarket, my $40 USD at the beginning of 2021 for the same items (weight adjusted for proper comparison) now costs $92 USD at the beginning of 2024. Don't forget that the CCP ordered that negative information about the economy is not to be posted. With millions of people affected, you expect to see more concrete info posted, but it probably gets censored off and the problem of a negative social credit score penalty is assigned. People have mentioned their score prevents them from using trains, so it can be quite an expensive problem. But then again, the score was meant to exert a darwinistic effect to force those people out of societal involvement.

@@animejanai4657 The CCP is therefore eliminating the fourth leg of any economy. The four legs of any economy are: 1. Land (Raw materials) 2. Labor. 3. Technical Know-How 4. Capital. 5. Entrepreneurship. From these four, the fourth, 5. Entrepreneurship is the most important, because it is the Entrepreneurs who have both the skill and the mindset to organize people in such a way, that 1. Land, 2. Labor, 3. Technical know-how and 4. Capital are deployed in the most efficient and effective manner. Being an Entrepreneur also means assuming the risks of a possibly failing business, which leads to debt, to a negative credit score, and virtually an elimination of his particular skill set. This is particularly worrying, because there does not exist a body of knowledge that will _guarantee_ business success. This means, that the only way to achieve business success is through, as it is called in the West: 'faling forwards'. The CCP's vision on economics is so limited, that they think that only Land, Labor and Technical Know-How matter. Communism is against Capital, therefore this is actively discouraged. And Entrepreneurship goes against their idea that everything should be centralized governed. An d the stupid thing is that they also want to govern the minds of people, which basically attacks 3. Technical Know-How. China could only reach the level they have achieved under those conditions by backing off during a certain period, and large-scale theft of intellectual property from the West. Their regime is too suppressive to allow the Chinese people to develop their minds. Although China contains 1/4th of the world population, it has produced only one Nobel Prize winner of any scientific significance. Although, medicine is not a hard science. It is on the border between real science and some common knowledge, being made of part of Medicine. This one Nobel Prize winner of China was Tu Youyou - She won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015 for her discoveries concerning a novel therapy against Malaria. She discovered artemisinin, a drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for patients suffering from malaria. It must be noted, that Tu Youyou did her research totally outside of the two leading institutes of learning of the CCP: The Chinese Academy of Sciences and The Chinese Academy of Engineers. In other words, she was _not_ a part of the CCP, and kept herself out of politics, although she has now been absorbed by the CCP. Well, _that_ has ended her creativity for sure! A very poor result indeed! Considering that Japan, for example, has produced _many_ Nobel Prize winners, and that in the hard sciences. Like in Physics: Tomonaga, Yukawa and Nakamura. In Medicine: Tonegama and Ohsumi. In chemistry: Fuku, Noyori and Yoshino. In India there are also several Nobel Prize winners, even though the country is relatively poor and has had living conditions comparable to that of mainland China. Thinking, however, is not stifled in India.

I fell into the trap of working overtime and came to depend on it to "meet my expenses". Unfortunately, like all "good things" it eventually comes to an end. The main difference between me and the "average" Chinese workers is, l spent the extra income on niceties and was able to do more "fun" things. I think that, generally speaking, workers there must spend it for "necessities", like food, shelter and items for basic "survival". That's not part of the "consumption" based economy that the ccp wants to promote to reduce"deflation". I'll take "livin' in the good ole US of A " any day over that!

Assuming "mortgages" are still being paid, a sizeable slice of the income of the public gets sucked into the banks and is not available for consumption. It does not matter how big the M2 would be if it only circulates from bank/employers to people back to the bank. It cannot go for other expenses. Then how does the rest of the money supply get to the people to spend? They don't have jobs or (as noted) a large portion gets used to pay for the debts they cannot be rid of without finally paying them off. With even civil servants and employed workers not being paid in full and on time, how can that "survival tactic" of deferring owed salary and wages not impact people's perception of the certainty of the future. Then there are the reports of banks coming up with various pretexts to not allow people who deposited funds into the bank to withdraw some portion of them. So the CCP has no effective way to get disposable income into the hands of those who would be expected to spend, no way to assure them that what income they do get they will continue to get, and that if they put money into banks to safeguard it that they won't be denied access on some pretext and not be able to pay their expenses, the size of the money supply won't matter. The velocity of that money through the economy will slow down which effectively shrinks the effective money supply (what would be the disposable, discretionary money of the people and companies). If the CCP does manage to get the economy back to some semblance of what they had before the pandemic then all that money would cause probably a good deal of inflation that they would have to cope with and the measures needed might be just as painful as the deflation that had occurred.

Printing money at will doesn’t end well. My country used to do it back in 1970s 1980s and early 1990s… we had hyperinflation…80% in a month. The poor suffers most. There’s no free lunch: the government shall not spend more than it collects. It does in China, and even worse, it does poorly, in most cases without return over the expenditure. Then end of CCP China will be much worse than what URSS, and it will bring pain to the world. I’m amazed nobody talks about it.

You are broadly correct, but it's "deflation", not inflation causing problems with the Chinese economy. There's no such thing as"consumerism" in China. It's the necessities of life. What people need to just survive. Meanwhile, corrupt members of the ccp and bankers are getting the "lion's share". Also, the state is buying vast amounts of gold and artificially propping up the yuan. They're also selling off US "T-bills" to reduce their "exposure" to the volatility of the dollar in currency markets. Unfortunately, none of this is helping the domestic economy, as the profits are siphoned off through corruption. I don't envy the the "working poor" in China. Sadly, I think it's gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.

Except that the 70-year land lease clock keeps ticking since the date of the original land deal for the land when the house was built. All property in China is owned by the CCP and it is "sold" for a period ranging from 30 to 70 years after which ownership comes back to the CCP. The last one to own the property before it reverts to the CCP might even have to pay a cleanup or pollution fee on that land, so the last 10 years of that property would be a tricky thing to buy into if you can't get someone to take it off your hands if the land was polluted or full of debris from tofu-dreg buildings that collapsed.

This "analysis" is BOGUS. The PRC is in the midst of a deflationary spiral, & is not experiencing price inflation but the opposite! The problem is that PRC is NOT using QE to stimulate demand but rather to further boost supply side which is exactly the opposite of what they should do. Checks to consumers, retirees, subsidizing salaries, paying firms to hire ppl, all would be demand-stoking policies, but they won't do any of these things. Janet Yellen suggested such measures & for once in her life she was right but Xi won't listen.
