Honestly, within the area I live in, I've ordered food from a number of ghost kitchens and like them. What I've noticed is that those ghost kitchens I ordered from seem to be exclusive to Foodpanda for some reason, allow lesser-known franchises to open new locations here, and are not only hosted in dedicated spaces like those, but some restaurants and food court stalls host ghost kitchens too, likely as a source of additional income and to prevent their kitchens from going to waste. Ghost kitchens appear like normal restaurants at first, until the customer checks the address.

Nothing wrong if the food is great and the kitchen is kept sanitary. If a ghost kitchen is the complete opposite then I hope there is repercussions and they get shut down.

Over the past year I have ordered food from 4 different ghost kitchens and all of them were awful. When I check their ratings now, all are rated lesst than 2 out of 5. They really need some kind of quality control.

That doesn't mean anything to the billions of poor human beings living in poverty in Asia and Africa. Middle class is shrinking in the West but the 1% are getting richer. At the end of the day skills matters learning new skills.

Most brick and mortar restaurants are LEASED not owned by the actual restaurant owner. Only the big franchises like McDonalds can afford to own the actual property the restaurant is built on. The mom and pop or the entrepreneur can't afford to own the commercial property especially if they are just starting out. If someone had a dream about opening up a restaurant at least they can afford it now at a fraction of the price compared to managing a brick and mortar restaurant. They can hire less employees because all you really need is the kitchen staff. Plus they take on less liability. The owner of the building is liable for any damages or repairs. Most importantly they don't have to be bothered with rude customers. This is a great idea! It gives people the opportunity to live out their dream of starting a business and opening a restaurant and the customer more options of what to eat in a closer proximity. Maybe you should take off you tin foil hat. Not everything is a conspiracy...

@@CJ-yf5cr the problem is when you don’t have a lease your ‘business’ has no value and if you want to sell it you’ll be a lot harder pressed to find a buyer ask it’s essentially just a job (where you make income while you’re there but there’s no exit) that’s the difference between a real business and this.

How does the health department inspect these places if they are open sometimes when health departments close after hours or when they bring in their own supplies and food in their car?? Im just asking bc I’ve owned multiple actual restaurants

The problem is the LIE!!! When you order from your favorite restaurant you should get that food, not faux food from a ghost kitchen! They are USING a well known restaurant name without permission!!! 😮

Nice concept but can I run this out of my home kitchen as I believe the whole licensing thing is a scam and used to keep small businesses out of the fast food business.
@jc8097
@jc8097 2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, it’s used to keep people safe from food borne illnesses and cross contamination. With so many allergies out there people could have reactions to food you are pumping out of your home. It would be hard to trace it back to what caused it . At least with a commercial kitchen it’s easier to trace back, and keep food at the temperature it needs to be. Also to get into these kitchens you need a food handlers license.

You risk drams by doing it that way. I actually saw a post about a door Dasher REPORTING the place he had to get the food because it was at an apartment... Also: I have known people to operate food business out of their home, but it was a house not an apartment. They had all the certifications to handle and serve food, and they had to have their kitchen inspected and has to have SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT to get their place up to code x plus the business food supply was to be separate( separate freezers ect. If you work out of a commercial kitchen, it will to be inspected, and you will need to take food handling safety and have your certificates posted on site

You aren't getting a variety of choices. The teriyaki chicken you are buying from one restaurant is exactly the same chicken you think you are buying from a different restaurant. The only difference is the price. One kitchen with many different restaurant names but all serving the same food. I will never use an app to buy my food.
