No family is perfect, and tragedy can strike anyone. But it's incredible to see the emotional health and intelligence Stacy Chapin displays as she and her family process the loss of Ethan. It shows that when bad things happen - and they will - it's really about how you handle it.

This mother is quite seriously an inspiration for how to move forward, how to live. Wow. I don't know that I could do this if I were in her shoes. She is something. What a family.

I've lost 2 children. Chavie was 14 and Isaac was 23, and 3 pregnancies. there is no pain like losing a child. It lives with you constantly. there is no choice but to go on and make the best of the rest of your life.

This mother's strength is truly amazing. No wonder Ethan was such a great young man, he learned from his momma.

Oh my God, when she showed her tattoo on her arm of Ethan's writing I burst out crying. A lovely woman dealing with tragedy with great dignity and strength to be there for her surviving children and her husband.

The tattoo got me. This poor family, my heart aches for them and anyone that has lost their world like they have.

She could be a motivational speaker. She could teach a work shop on parenting. I think she’s incredible. What a role model for mothers and everyone really. Don’t dwell on things outside of your control.

It would take a lifetime of therapy for me to process the denial, uncontrollable anger, and acceptance this would cause. I wish them the best.

Just to be completely honest ; thank god she still has other children who are alive. Not saying it hurts any less but the parent I worry about the most is Maddie’s father. She was his only child. I’ve seen interviews with him & it kills me how broken he is now. He lived for his only daughter. I literally can’t imagine the pain it’s so awful 😢

The Chapin family has such dignity throughout the unimaginable grief they have experienced, and we can all learn from them, about how to not let tragedy overtake our lives, and how to go on and create beauty everywhere we go.

My niece and nephews are triplets, can't imagine losing one of them, how that would impact their siblings and our family. Just a heartbreaking story all the way around.

She really is so inspiring. I needed to hear this today, the world is blessed for her.

As a mom, who just lost my own 19-year-old son this past September, I also understand Ethan‘s mother, not holding anger in her heart. Anger serves no purpose and it’s exhausting and when you lose a child, all you wanna do is love them, my heart goes out to this family and I hope they can heal 💙

I’m heartbroken about all the victims but Ethan honestly hits me the hardest. My younger siblings are triplets and I could not even fathom how much pain this family is going through. My mother had 2 girls and a boy (my younger siblings) and we also used colors to tell them apart as babies. My younger sisters were dressed in pink and purple and my younger brother was dressed in blue. Now I will think and be reminded of Ethan anytime I look at his baby pictures. It also really haunts me that Ethan was likely in the wrong place at the wrong time and not likely a target of the perpetrator. It’s just so tragic and sad all around and Ethan’s story hits very close to home for me. I truly wish I could meet the family and just wrap them all in big hug ❤😢

I almost didn't want to watch this clip. Everything is so hard right now. But I'm so glad I've seen this. Ethan's spirit is shining and his mom is wonderful. This was very inspiring and actually made me feel good, which is an amazing thing to originate from a horrific tragedy.

Maybe there is a reason all 4 of these families were brought together. I don’t know, but I truly believe some good will come from this tragedy. There has to be.

I lost a nephew many years ago. We were all very surprised at how many people he touched. He lost his life at 19. 20+years ago. We take comfort in our imagination about what he would have become. He will always be a winner. He will be forever young with a beautiful future.

The way Ethan’s family handles the grief of their child being murdered is incredible . Grief is so tricky tho . No one handles it the same .

Unpopular opinion: Respectfully, and I mean that sincerely… i just don’t understand how she can say that not just her, but her whole entire family, have just completely healed. It’s odd to me. I also find it extremely odd that Ethan’s siblings Mazie & Hunter went straight back to school, instead of getting as far away as possible from that place. How could they both just continue to walk on that campus, be around place’s & people that remind them of Ethan every single day? Because although most of those memories are hopefully really good ones, they will always be clouded over by the horrific ones they have of that morning & the mental images of what allegedly his triplet Hunter witnessed first hand. That would forever haunt me. I would be sick to my stomach every single time I saw “THE house” the crime scene, or ANYTHING associated with what happened in general. The house, the street, the neighborhood, the neighbors, the school, the students, the frat houses, sorority houses, the band field, seeing any of that would literally make me puke! Id be looking at everyone with suspicion, I’d especially be side eyeing, no, PRESSING the kids that were on the 3am body cam footage! Which brings me to the very last, but most odd of all… is how they can just be ok with not seeking the absolute most justice for their son/brother which also includes making absolute sure that the correct person(s) is behind bars? I completely understand how it would be extremely difficult to attend the whole entire trial & to hear every gruesome detail, seeing photos, that would be traumatic for me personally, but the DA can inform the family of when the more difficult days/times will be & they don’t have to attend those. But as a parent/sibling how can you just instinctively feel an absolute deep need to not only be there but to fight for justice? The part that just does not sit well with me, is that they seem to not really care if the killer(s) walking around free right now & the wrong guys locked up, or if the right guys locked up & might get away with it & walk free. I’d want to, NEED to know the what’s, when’s, where’s, & with who’s. I’d need to know that absolutely no one else was involved & that every single person that was involved was held accountable for their actions…(Or lack there of.) 😒Dillon & Bethany. Idk, like I said… I mean no disrespect to the Chapin family whatsoever. Their loss is incredible, and I from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry for their loss. And I sincerely hope that they are healed & that they have just chose to completely move on & not let this case keep them up at night, trying to put all the puzzle pieces together. I am just a bit shook on how they can do that. That’s all. Because I don’t even know Ethan, or Xana, Maddie, & Kaylee at all… & this case absolutely haunts me. It keeps me, along with thousands of other complete strangers up at night… trying to make all the pieces of the puzzle we have been given fit. And for some reason, the pieces they’ve given us just do not fit. 😢

It's hard to understand how one man manages to stab 4 people at the time...I think that when that happens someone would SCREAM, someone would raises an alarm... I don't understand... I don't understand why criminals never say exactly what happened, none of these killer monsters tell the truth!!!
