Indigenous groups from across the country came together for a once-in-a-generation celebration after the birth of a rare white American buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. The sacred symbol of the Sioux Nation fulfills an ancient prophecy. NBC’s Steve Patterson reports for TODAY.

For those who want context about the white buffalo- it’s actually a tale from the tribes who live on the Great Plains: Many years ago, when the game was nowhere to be found, the chief of the Lakota people sent out two hunters to find out where the buffalo had gone. But when they were mere minutes away from the tribal range, they saw a woman in the distance, coming closer and closer. One of the men thought she was beautiful and wanted her for his wife, but the other man knew she was sacred and not to be messed with. Needless to say; the man who wanted to marry her got reduced to bones in mere seconds. The man who thought she was sacred, however, she gave instructions to: To place the tents in a circle, leave an opening in said circle to face the north, and in the center of the circle, to make a large tipi, which also faced the north; and only then she would come. So the man ran back to his people, and followed the woman’s directions at once. And when the lady reached the camp, she revealed the gift she had within the sagebrush- a peace pipe. With this pipe, the people could pray to the Great Spirit high above, and only then could the buffalo return. She also taught the people how to live peacefully together with nature, and how they should decorate themselves for ceremonial occasions. When she had completed her message, she left the tribe, but not before becoming a black buffalo cow, then a red buffalo cow, then a brown buffalo cow, and finally a white buffalo cow. After this, she was gone. Soon; the buffalo came back to the plains and let everyone hunt them by the hundreds. But the rare white buffalo has been sacred ever since.

They don’t care about brands or unless stuff that city folk think is important. They are always very connected to mother earth and animals. I am thankful that they exist so we can learn some actual important lessons about life!

Not only some Natives Tribes,but some of us "regular" folks,too. Pluto comes out of retrograde this year,in late November. The last time this happened was 1776. Only every 248 years does Pluto affect the earth so greatly.

@@ukrainefighter2456It’s a bit of a long story tied to their tales and legends about a sacred woman that taught them everything they know about the spiritual realm, as well as how to pray and communicate with the spiritual realm by using their ceremonial pipe. She also relieved them from an ongoing struggle of starvation, and she departed as a white buffalo calf, telling their ancestors that she would come again as one and that great changes would then occur in the world. I shortened the story by quite a lot of course, but you can find some pretty good videos here on KZfaq that discuss this matter. Even the chief in this video, chief Arvol Looking Horse, talks about the prophecy in one of the videos. Hope this helps!

On August 20, 1994, a white buffalo calf called Miracle was born on a farm in Janesville, Wisconsin. She is believed to be the first white buffalo calf born since 1933. It is important to note that Miracle was a very rare white buffalo and not to be mistaken with an albino buffalo. To the American Indians, the birth of Miracle was the fulfillment of their legends, as if the Great Spirit wished to bring hope and peace to all nations and people. As of today, the last known white buffalo calf, Baby, was born July 4, 2012 in Avon, Minnesota, but sadly died two weeks later.

Unfortunately, the bison is thought to already be dead. It hasnt reappeared since its first sighting, and mortality rates for bison young are very high. I personally suspect foul play (ex. Stealing the cub), but there is no real evidence to indicate that it passed from any special circumstances.
