The other day I posted a video on what a co-angler should bring with them as far as tackle goes. This video is how to approach catching fish from the back of the boat.

Boaters switch to their co's lures and targets right quick if they're out fished by them; right after the 2nd or 3rd catch.

I fish as a Co because it is the ultimate test. The adapting to the situations, picking up on what’s skipped over or unrealized, and keeping your head in the game is the ticket.

On Erie last year buckeye bfl boater live scoped put 18 lbs in the boat. I had 16lbs fan casting a drop shot around the back of the boat. I ended up in 12th. Your right on with not being overly concerned with your boaters plan. Peace and God Bless brother.

100% correct Todd. I started fishing BASS Open years ago and drew out John Cox at Toho and he told me same thing you just talked about . He was real nice about he said I'm not going to leave you anything to anything to punch at but he said you will catch em on the edge swimming a speed worm. Dude that was the best day of fishing I had ever fishing out of the back of the boat. You are spot on with your advice. Keep up the great work brother and good luck with tournaments this year.

I get how it works! Many years ago, I fished with a guy on Buggs. He was throwing a crankbait on mainlake banks. I threw a worm and won the club event! Kudos to a guy who can keep his head in the game! Great series for the up and coming anglers. Thanks Todd.

As a co you just got to roll with it. Don't dwell on a lost fish or unforeseen things that happen on the water. there will be time to think on that on the drive home. Fish your strengths, roll with the punches, and be respectful to your boater. Hopefully they will return the respect. If not well, I will hope I never draw them again. Livescope can be a bad deal at times for a co-angler I always ask my boater if they can leave a graph up with the map and maybe 2d sonar if they can. At least that way you can drop on fish the boat goes over or you can fish the contours. Also don't be afraid to ask them what depth he is seeing the fish or bait at. then you can count down your bait or if there within 10 feet or so of the surface you can throw a big topwater or in the BFL or Toyota a double fluke rig. Todd is dead on with his insight. Like he said you will get a good boater and sometimes a bad one, but the bad ones are not as prevalent.

Todd some great advice given, I have not had to fish behind someone LS all day, but my only question to someone that is would be just let me know how the fish they are fishing for are located in the water column suspended, bottom or close to the top so I can adjust from there.

Would also love to see this Todd, I know you have a couple basic videos on the C-Rig but would love to see a more detailed one about retrieves and where/when you like to fish it. Also how the hell to detect strikes better. I feel like I swing and miss so much using it, or just don't think I feel a hit but when I get it back in the worm is down the hook 😮‍💨

I see miliken using it a fair amount for smallmouth. It seems to be good in current. I don’t know how much it gets used over other tactics for largies

Todd, have you seen coanglers bringing their own live scope? I saw a video of a guy with a drop in PVC rig and a battery. I face-palmed so hard i gave myself a black-eye.

What happens when the angler is blowing and going shallow water. I had a Carolina rig tie on. What would you recommend

Question from an average fisherman, Is it acceptable to ask your boater what the layout of the surrounding water is? If you are sight fishing and I have 240 degrees out the back is it OK to ask you questions about what I am fishing in? Depth, slope, bottom makeup? or just start firing blind until you can feel it out?

That is where the Carolina rig comes in handy finding depth, structure and contour.
