I had a cousin who spent thousands of dollars on a psychic that was supposed to reunite her with the man she was cheating on her husband with! The whole thing was insane!! She kept sending her money and even bought her a plane ticket from Spain to the US because she "had" to do some work in person in order to get the full effect of the psychic ability. The "psychic" ended up here in the US and vanished shortly thereafter from the house. Before that I had already distanced myself from that whole thing. All I have to say is when people are desperate they fall for it all! It's mind-blowing!!!

From a scientific point of view, it is not proven that being a " Psychic " exists or it's even possible...So I feel sorry for Vera being so naive and lonely. Thanks for the great analysis Dr. Grande 💙
@hawk_202
@hawk_202 2 жыл бұрын
science is very limited and what science currentely sees as proof is very limited. If you saw your future and it happened weeks later exactly as seen who would believe you? probs only others who experienced it and lets say it really happened how could it ever be proven? youd know what you saw but other people would think youre scamming them, close family would wonder how you could be so mistaken and may even think youre delusional and ask you to predict the "lottery numbers" when you never even claimed to be able to do so, just that you saw an "event" in a vision which later happened to you exactly as seen. the main reason people dont believe in it is simply because "science" didnt say so, or they know a little science and they believe based on the known science seeing the future should be impossible. Many governments have looked into extra sensory perception, psychic abilities and even remote viewing, it defnitely seems if you look with an open mind theres someting to it, obviously people use scammers or genuine psychics that made a mistake as "proof" it does not exist, when in reality an open mind should be kept. Why do i think this? i didnt believe in this stuff and my mind became more open over time and maybe by fluke luck i experienced it for myself multiple times. Its not as rare as you think, many people have had these expeirences but wrote it off as coincidence, for example a bad feeling and then your car has been stolen when you go back to it, you think of a friend you havent talked to in almost a year and the next day they call...... there are some documentaries on this stuff however skeptics will say its staged or got lucky, one doc covers a situation where particapants are shown images negative or positive in the emotion the image will cause and they were able to measure the heart rates of participants either rise or fall before the negative or positive image would be shown. up to 20 seconds before the image, with a lower rate preceding a positive image such as kittens, then heart rate would rise 20 seconds before an image of a gun being pointed at the viewer. Whats funny is i was skeptical my whole life and would see shows like most haunted or some psychic show and it would be so obviously bullshit to me, maybe they were just bad psychics but after having my own expeirences theres many docs where real abilities seem to be shown like psychic kids, but again skeptics will claim staged but if you wanna expeirence it you must be open.

The saddest thing about this case is that Vera was cut off from her loved ones while she must have been having early dementia symptoms. Out of experience I know that it is so important to be together during this time before the person looses herself due to dementia. The fake psychic took advantage of a vulnerable old woman and even kept her away from her family during the final phase of her life. This is unforgivable and so much worse than stealing money. It’s like stealing someones life.

My mother in law has given thousands of dollars to psychics who tell her she's cursed or someone gave her"el ojo" ( spanish for Evil Eye) and the only way to lift the curse and protect her spiritual well-being she has to keep giving more money. My MIL is a very sweet and very naive lady and though it's not really my place to tell her she being scammed, no one in her family, including my husband, has ever tried to intervene. It's frustrating and sad.

Agreed. I used to be one, although it was only fun and games for me at a summer Renaissance Faire. I was actually an atheist at the time. So to be effective, I had to learn cold reading tips from magicians who dissect how this stuff works. I had a friend at the Renfaire who was also an atheist, and he estimated that about 10% of psychics were knowing fakes like us - psychic entertainers - and about 90% actually bought into their own crap. Because here's the thing, I have seen countless "psychics" over the years employ the exact same cold reading and fishing techniques that I was doing deliberately, without even realizing what they were doing. It was just coming naturally to them. So here's a pro tip:. The ones who are truly potentially dangerous are the ones who believe their own crap, because they will tell you to do all kinds of stupid stuff like go to Norway, and they'll believe that they're right.

I didn't believe in psychics but a friend and I went to one once just for "fun". I paid her $50 and for an hour she told me all about my life. She was remarkably accurate and told me things I had never revealed to anyone. It was impressive but going to her was a terrible mistake because in addition to getting so much right about me she made a prediction that I would one day become suicidal if I didn't get counseling after having 2 major surgeries. That was almost 20 years ago and I've had one major surgery and keep wondering when the next one will be so I can monitor myself for suicidal thoughts. Never once have I ever thought about ending my life so I'm hoping she was wrong, but she was right about so many other things.....

I once watched a documentary on the town of Lily Dale, NY, which is s historic center of the spiritualist movement, and which contains a number of practicing psychics. According to the documentary, to stay on the town’s approved list for referrals (or some similar arrangement) the psychics have to agree to post fees for services and limit themselves to hourly fees for actively working with clients in person in giving readings or séances. . Any other fees, such as for curse removal, are forbidden. Assuming they abide by these rules, this seems like a way to give people their religious exercise or entertainment while avoiding abuses.

This psychic gave the senile woman some comfort, something no one else could provide. This psychic made Vera feel special, she was the center of attention with someone fussing about her spirituality. And as all good psychics do, Vera was probably told she had psychical powers as well and tapped into that specialness Vera thought she had. She gave Vera license to feel special and above the rest. What Dr. Grande doesn't understand is how invisible women become when they age. Honestly, someone was going to fleece Vera, either her doctor or a relative, or a church or some organization; better it was someone who made Vera feel unique and special at a very low price--that's just how I see it.

Vera should’ve just hired the Ghostbusters up front. I often see on their websites mini-commercials narrated by Peter Venkman, offering all kinds of special deals for people experiencing “shoulder demon-possession.” Specifically, the Ghostbusters will bring with them to your house a priest the company trusts and works with often, exorcise that demon, followed by entrapment and storage of the beast, for one low price of $4,200. All customers satisfaction guaranteed! Vera should’ve gone this route, as Angela clearly had a sketchy resume, but the Ghostbusters are proven paranormal eliminators.

Maybe the solution would be for psychics and other 'healers' to be legally required to provide a disclaimer before taking money, much in the same way certain nutritional supplements are now made to do. That way, prospective clients are warned without unduly limiting psychics for those who truly desire their services.
