She might be “more clever than beyond her years”, as you said. However, based off of our own experience (my husband and mine), as well as our friends who did things with their children like we did, I would rather say that she is where every child would be, if their parents diligently worked with their children. The problem is that, most parents see these cute, little cuddly babies and instead of treating them like little humans and talk normally to them, they talk gibberish to them. That along with not realizing that the first 5 years of age is when their brains are developing the fastest and needs the stimulation of being talked to normally, read to and being taught things or they just don’t want to take that kind of time….they then wonder why their children have a hard time talking in full sentences that make sense at 4/5 years of age. When in reality, they have, unbeknownst to themselves, many times contributed to the problem. Every SINGLE time where I see parents who work with their little ones like this, (as long as the child doesn’t have some sort of learning problem, like autism and such), they (the children) are more advanced then most of their counterparts. It really does start at home. 😉
