You think that I'll be playing another Densha de GO! playthrough, isn't it? But nope. I'm playing on another Japan-made game; this time, you're the bus driver - in Tokyo area, namely Toei Bus Company! (Yes, I know the other one - which is a very well-known animation studios, and of course, one of the "longest-running" movie studios (since 1938 - as Toyoko Eiga) + as one of the "Big Four" of the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan [MPPAJ]. Yet, not this game though because it's obviously different.)
This has similar feelings / vibes with Densha de GO!, as you'll race against time, but with "slight twists" - such as:
1. "Stop at the RED Bus Stop marker on or before the displayed time corner (which is "NOW") - aka "DON'T BE LATE!"", somehow rendering opposite of DdGO! (where you should be "on time" to stop / to pass stations for getting "GREAT!" bonuses) and such;
2. "Don't accelerate / brake too hard, just with a hint of soft silky touch";
3. "Every stations passed (Once the blinking speed limit (in km) appears on-screen at the bottom right side) / after departed - you are required to push the Announce button";
4. "Before departing, don't forget to CLOSE THE DOORS by pressing the Door button";
...and so on.
Well, yeah, you might heard or seen this in DreamCast or the PlayStation 2, but for the sake of full play video, I made this "so you don't have to" (go to Japan and find this one, as I think that there's the consoles version - had much more content than this one, which interestingly found out that this is the "downgraded" version). And, this gameplay isn't the best to watch, nor anything else to add up; atleast I tried my full best so far to survive throughout the whole game on all 4 courses.
But still, please enjoy the whole video! (Plus, the whole BGM in this game is a banger to me; who may agree on this? I might do 1 hour music videos on it, in case.)
My own controls for this game: (DEMUL)
{Arcade - Joy 1}
Accelerate Pedal - W Key
{{ANALOG 1}}
Brake Pedal - S Key
{{ANALOG 1}}
Bus Steering Wheel - A & D Keys
{{ANALOG 1}}
Door button - Left Alt (LMENU) Key
{{PUSH2}}
Announce Button - Left Ctrl Key
{{PUSH1}}
Horn [Optional I guess?] - Left Shift Key
{{PUSH3}}
View Change button - Up Arrow Key
{{DIGITAL}}
Winkers (Left & Right Orange Headlight Signals) - Left & Right Arrow Keys
{{DIGITAL}}
*Shift Front (D) - X Key
{{PUSH4}}
*Shift Reverse (R) - Z Key [Very tricky to setup on this thing; having the "ON / OFF" switch-like of this would be confusing / frustrating, rather than being easy (to use) to other players. Not even joking though, but you may try this for yourself!]
{{PUSH5}}
*Seriously, why did they have that controls with 2 separated functions? In that case though, why they didn't think about a singular "easy-one-press" feature to replace / change those 2 mentioned functions (e.g. Shift Front / Reverse - [Insert key / button here], as like a modern car with that feature)? Is it because - the developers added some "spicy" challenges for the players? Or maybe, Japanese buses were primarily designed like this some decades ago? Or otherwise, all of the above?

You have great eyes for sure. Yes, it's really weird that the only bus appeared in driving state (including the console versions) is obviously - yours, except at the end of the Shinjuku route, but they're just stationary (decorative purposes) and nothing else. The only train to appear (also in the consoles) in this game is the Tokyo Monorail, so are the yellow taxis (plus other NPVs or Non-Playable Vehicles) to see, aside from those AI-guided (pathfinding) pedestrians that they're sprite-based graphics (from being like "pre-3D rendered"). Probably, in my own theory, it's due to "technical limitations" (and possibly strict development timeframe) at that time. But, for me, it's a kind of "art" to appreciate; yes, you may agree or disagree respectfully since we might not have the same thoughts after all.

Did you use a keyboard? That must have uncomfortable. You know, due to mapping a digital input(keys) to a pedals (analog triggers in DC) that are analog inputs. You could have use a gamepad like xbox 360/XBOne or ps4 to gameplay can be acurrate.

I truly respect your suggestions, man. It's a bit struggle, but still worth it for me to play. Yeah, using the controller is even greater (mostly USB ported ones, like where you can buy in those tech stores / shops with some PS1 / PS2 "knock-offs" controllers and others), or even like the Logitech steering wheel setup, but I already have the experience doing the keyboard [maybe comfortable] since my very first KZfaq video back in 2017 (which is FIGHTING WU-SHU 2ND, in case you don't know yet), or even before that event. Unfortunately, due to "budgeting" (family matters and stuff - even this current pandemic situation as well), I have to stick on what I have today (aka "cannot afford those things until the right time comes"). Perhaps, I'll use the controller in the future (cannot tell exactly), but for the meantime, again as mentioned, I'll stick to use the keyboard for a while. I did this gameplay, because no one actually tried to complete this NAOMI version yet, but likely the same as in the consoles, although without the Ōme (read as: Oume) course (which is a countryside setting in outside Tokyo city, probably the "hardest" ones to play - many twisting turns plus the final bus stop - in which the trick is to go lower than 10km/h for a slightly sensitive turning, and speed limits of 40 to 30km/h on certain areas). Anyways, thanks for giving suggestions! 👍👍

@@TASTomusan Indeed, I've noticed that your can accelerate up to 50-60 km/h and brake without get a penalty due to brake too quickly, I can only up to 40 km/h because If I brake probably I get a penalty. I play the Dreamcast version with Redream on mobile virtual gamepad (all inputs are digital too haha), so I've get used like you. I had curiosity to watch the Naomi version, thanks for you gameplay. Of course, the last bus stop on third course(in Dreamcast) causes at some point I lose and I have restart the course haha.

Well yeah, the consoles were "possibly rougher" than this NAOMI I suppose lol. But, no continues allowed as it was made in the consoles as well (tried searching in GAME TEST MODE [TOKYO BUS GUIDE] -> Game Assignments via TEST MENU; but there's none). I suppose you really enjoyed this game, don't you think (even you have little to some Japanese language proficiency, or maybe none - based only from your "technical understanding" during your gameplay experience)? For the speed limits, this game acknowledges the 5km/h allowance - e.g. if the limit is 60km/h = 65km/h is the max, DO NOT GO beyond that (I got penalized for "Overspeeding" at 66km/h, or rarely it breaks in 67km/h from some "strange circumstances"); this applies to all speed limits, minimum speed limits of 40km/h up to maximum of 60km/h. throughout the whole game. I think this is also similar in Densha de GO! series, if I'm not mistaken. The main purpose is: "to not be too late and either be as an early bird, or to be on time". On using the gas and brake pedals, these are quite tricky to make some "correct timings". So what I did there is, I gently pressed those assigned keys on those 2 functions whenever I needed to, about every as close as 1 second or even lesser than that. I found out that you can "hardly" brake if less than 40km/h, but in the sequel (which doesn't have the arcade one, only for consoles), you'll get a penalty for that, since it's much stricter than this game, and I think their proprietary game physics engine also changed. Braking on higher than 40km/h (e.g. when you're at 52km/h and then trying to braking hard as is) would give you a bit trouble (penalty issued, reducing the "green bar" indicator), just be cautious, learn to relax and stay focused. In accelerating, don't press too much when starting to depart, just give some enough a bit time to release, and then press again. I think before like 15km/h, you may release it, and then you can press it once more, again less than a second. You should learn and practice yourself more, how to make the right timings on this particular function (acceleration). Doing too much on the gas pedal on departure would result in a penalty, like the brakes did if carelessly activated. Also, using "winkers" is a must when changing lanes, and for turning other road. Plus, using the horn is entirely "optional" I guess, but it gives some kind of realism I think so. These are all my experiences so far while recording all of those footages via OBS Studio 64-bit, so that other viewers (not only you), not just to "entice or enjoy" this game filled with nostalgia, but also to learn more on watching my own techniques as shown if you would like to play in "near-perfect terms" - although as what I've mentioned earlier, not too bad nor too good for me (in short: "Your Average Joe" [平均 - Heikin] type). You might compliment me if you like, but I don't know the others though...

@@TASTomusan I discovered this game in a "Hidden Games/Japanese Only launched games" videos and really it attracted attention me. I don't understand Japanese (My first language is Spanish, I from Mexico, and I'm learning English) but I've been playing basically trial and error (Besides I take screenshots to notices/instructions on screen and use Google Translator to Japanese -spanish translation). I find the instructions booklet on web but it only is in Japanese(obviously). I use similar technics like you, In stops I accelerate pushing intermittently the key and when I reach 15 km/h let push and wait 2 seconds approximately and push key again to pass the traffic lights. I have curiosity to see how the game developer adapted the Dreamcast analog triggers style to Playstation 2 Digital triggers style. In Naomi version have cutscenes for talks of customers like Dreamcast port? I've searched information how it works and unlock them but I can't find info.

Ah, I see. Mine I have some kind of "near intermediate" Japanese proficiency (can read, write and speak), "some" Spanish (esp. numbers and basic greetings), "a bit" Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, French, Italian and Russian. Lastly, my nativity is Filipino. This NAOMI doesn't have the cinematic cutscenes (as in 101% nothing), due to "time constraints" (not enough time to make additional extra efforts). Hence, this is the "downgraded" version from the consoles (DreamCast and PS2).
