Tokyo faces a new reality after the tragedy of 3/11. While persistent challenges still lay ahead, the city's creative class is hell-bent on making sure that their hometown thrives. Innovative and resilient, they are defining the future of Tokyo on their own terms. We put our boots on and went exploring.

If you wish to go to Tokyo know this. The people you see in this series are extremely forward thinking. Most of Tokyo is a gathering of socially awkward people. For this reason, based on the three times I've been there, the best advice I can give is to just go with the flow. Do not try and rationalize anything with a western mind, cause it'll fry your brain. And go alone and for longer than a month. Tokyo is weird in the way that, as a foreigner, you'll either fall completely in love with its insanity... Or you won't and never go back. There's really no inbetween. Personally I love it :)

Great documentary from Part 1-5. One of the good things about you tube is that it allows one to express their individuality. I would never have had the opportunity to see this on regular tv. This should have been sold to one of the cable stations (HBO, Showtime.. etc). Excellent job, Pharrell!!!

Alot of people want to travel in different countries for their tropical climats or whatever, but Japan doesnt even need that to make their country amazing. It's the people of Japan that are the very reason to appeal others to come. It's their unique creativity that makes this country so appealing. It's only a matter of time before I set my feet there. I was already in love with Japan, but those videos just made me fall in love again.

@KebbyTheProphet Military is what allows me to stay out here so long! The U.S. has bases here! As far as not speaking Japanese...it will come pretty easily once you start hearing it everyday. I know enough of it to get what I need when I am out and about touring, or whatever. You would be surprised at the number of people here that actually know english though! Don't let not knowing the language hold you back from visiting such an amazing country...loving it here!

I loved these series. I wish I could go to Japan someday, but I hate it when people experience a group of Americans who are overly demanding and then they blame the rest of us for them and their rudeness -__- Us Americans are NOT ALL THE SAME.
