This wasn’t Brady’s first game. His first appearance in a regular season NFL game was in 2000 against the Lions, and his first start was in 2001 against the Colts in week 3. This was his 6th start of the ‘01 season.

No one knows anything until it's happened. If we had known then, we'd all be chomping at the bit to see if it was true and crucified him when he messed up. This was not Tom Brady's first game. This game happened on November 4, 2001. Tom Brady's first career start was against the Colts on September 30, 2001. If you want his first NFL action (not his first career start), it was in his rookie year in 2000.

Tom Brady's debut was against the Detroit Lions in the 2000 season. That was his first game although brief. His first start was against the Colts, so I don't know where the Falcons fit into this.
