People fail to understand he signed up for the roast when he retired the first time (aka 9 months before his divorce, meaning he couldn't have anticipated how dark the jokes would be). He also only signed up under the terms that his kids and parents (and apparently Robert Kraft too) were off limits. He expected a bunch of deflated ball and crypto jokes, not sexually explicit jokes about the mother of his children leaving him for someone else. And he's in no way criticizing the roasters, he's criticizing his own choice in signing up for it. He took every joke like a champ the night of and got some good zingers in himself. You've just got to be determined to hate Tom if you still have a problem with him at this point.
