True. 2001: Oh, you think Metal Gear Solid 2 has the best visuals? 2002: Splinter Cell has the best visuals! The curtain physics, dynamic shadows, dynamic lighting, tons of environment props and a lot of interactive objects (for the time). I envy anyone would played this in 2002-2003. I only ever got playing it around 2007 maybe, at the earliest. 1st time was with completely busted shadows or course. Later I found about the .ini tweak for partially working shadows. And only in 2014 IIRC fully working shadows were restored.

I don't even think the textures are dated. I'd say the most dated thing about the game would be character models first and geometry complexity all around second. But it still looks plenty fine. This video is the reason I'm trying out the series on PC. Thank you for this awesome playthrough! Been loving the game so far. Can't wait to get to Chaos Theory. Hope to see you cover it someday! Pandora Tomorrow too, if you can find it on PC. Also side note I've noticed at least on my end. The trick at 1:20:10 for some reason doesn't work for me. He dies halfway through the fall no matter where I toss him off the roof. I almost thought I had to restart the level as I already quick saved at the corner where you toss him and there's no way to get him back off the roof. Thankfully I found a workaround. If you move Sam to that light post on the corner of the roof while carrying the body, the game just lets you walk off without dropping it. So you don't even need to position yourself to drop his body off. It will let you just walk right off with him, and thank God for it. Level took me a good 40 mins haha
