@@salomokondjila5421 Against Maverick obviously, Mav has been in the game for 3 decades and a half. But in their fields respectively they aren't newbie rookies. Hangman has an already confirmed kill while Phoenix and Bob have flown bombing missions in the middle East hence the name BOB "Bombs over Baghdad". The advantage Mav has over them is experience in dog fighting. And also Mav sometimes is a loose canon (unpredictable) the total opposite of Iceman (cold precision).

I don't know if someone forgot to mention this, but it's a MOVIE! They wouldn't use a Top Gun class for this anyway. This would be a designated strike mission, with multiple in & out paths & backup options if the primary failed to accomplish the task. In this situation they most likely would go with a SpecOps team anyway, due to the unacceptable risk from the SAMs on the way out "coffin corner" & there's no way the Navy would approve a strike mission that required pilots to pull over 8Gs max, it's too much strain on the pilots & stress on the airframes. The US prefers deniability & that's real hard to do when you're getting F-18E/F & E-18 Growlers shot down. Even though the E-18 Growlers in all likelihood could jam if not outright fry the Radar the SAMs are using. This would be a mission the F-35 could handle, because it wouldn't require drastic maneuvers due to the fact the EW & SAMs radar would never know they were there.

how about top gun pilots being called rookies years after the fact? or that 40 years after the start of his career still flying. or that in the movie tp gun is anywhere near the ocean. so many holes in top gun maverick. all the credit goes to the cinematographers

It is already known that there are signaling personnel on the runway, mechanics and weapons loaders preparing the planes; there is no need for them to show you that before takeoff at all times. They show you this later on the aircraft carrier ship.

Not the same jet but and I'm an old grandma but re Sully and the miracle on the Hudson. Those geese were huge and only took a few to bring that US Airways jet down.

@@Amir-gc8re idk man, those "speeds" were subsonic cruising, im not doubting they would be damaged, but both completly destoryed? i do highly doubt that those engines are desingned to take multiple gunshots drom other jets and keep running of course im also no expert and can only go off what actual f18 pilots say

@@xISparkzy As a material engineer I'll answer with the best of my knowledge: As you mentioned, "those engines are desingned to take multiple gunshots drom other jets and keep running" - that is true since they are encased with strong protective alloy. The turbine blades, however, are much more sensitive. imagine what happens when a small portion of a turbine blade breaks - it gets shreded by the turbine, causing a cascading failure by breakage of more blades, thereby making the turbine completely destroy iteslf. Also, the immense rotational velocity at the blade tips creates centrifugal forces that lengthen the turbine's blades. This has a spring like effect with a lot of stored energy (also increasing the chance to failure if a strong enough impact occurs) - once the blade breaks its shatters scatter all over the engine bay, further disintegrating the engine from within. As a former F15 + skyhawk A4 maintanance worker: The term FOD (foreign object damage) is an extremely serious concept in aircraft maintanance. If a worker failed to return every single tool after working on a plane, including even a puny tiny drill bit, even if he didn't work on the engine ornear it, ALL PLANES ARE GROUNDED untill that tool is found. This happened to me personally, but I managed to trace my steps and to find the missing tool in 30 minutes. Remember, everything has a soft spot. Even a tank can be demobilized by an accurate , armor piercing, high caliber round through the engine's cooling vents.

Yeah, this one doesn't fall into that category. Is it perfect? No, but its faults are pretty much basic movie faults. "This wouldn't really work like this..", etc.

This movie is amazing. It's one of the things that made me decide to join the Air Force even though I might not become a pilot despite my efforts. It's an amazing action flic.
