Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?

Young kids, forgetting a cardinal rule of the military: beware the old man, in the profession where men die young. Maverick telling them 200 was a lot of push ups was not a complaint. It was a warning.

What I love most is he never stopped teaching or encouraging them thru the whole process. He was actually routing for rooster to beat him in the canyon even while doing everything possible to win

I love how this perfectly mirrors his experience in the first movie with his teacher, with him now being the teacher. This is how great sequels are made, adding onto the already established story and putting a twist on classic scenes.

Love how they didn't make him a washed up old man who needs a lesson himself. If anything he was even better in this one than the original- maybe the best pilot in the world. Awesome.

"It was all fun and games with that selfie, wasn't it?". 😂

One thing I love is how sure of themselves they were,forgetting the fact that Maverick had actual combat experience.

I love how Hangman is notoriously known as the man who will leave you out to hang, at the end of the movie is the one who comes to the rescue of Rooster and Mav. That's what we call a character arc ladies and gentleman.

This is one of those rare movies that probably should have been terrible, and yet somehow ended up being incredible and almost as good as the first one, and almost 40 years later at that. I was stunned at how good of a job they did with this film! Incredible stunts and extremely immersive, 10/10.

I watched Top Gun 1 yesterday and now just realized that the lines of Mav speaking to himself, saying reasonable things, is probably what Goose would say to him, if he were still there.

"So long as he doesnt call you a man..." That's one simple and effective burn!

I like how Phoenix’s snark rubs off on Bob at 3:47 and how she acknowledges it with a chuckle. 😂

The fact the you could feel the anger of rooster behind his mask is a sign a good acting.

I swear the smirk on Phoenix's face when Bob burns Hangman is like a proud Mom moment. I can almost hear her say, "That's my boy" lol 😆

Love that little reference to the original Top Gun: "leaving your wingman... that's a strategy I haven't seen in a while". Mav is talking about himself, when he left his wingman to try to get Viper.

For all those who didn’t see this movie in the theater…”too late, you had your chance.”

That move Maverick does when he “Hits the brakes” and the other plane flies right by, is so freaking cool.

I love how Rooster puts his mask on right off the bat because he has an idea of what's coming 🤣

I love the fact that he simply shot down the best of the best one by one. This was a great movie

I've seen Maverick before I've seen the original Top Gun - I like how this movie still gives you a general idea of what happened in the original and makes sure that even those that haven't seen the first one can still appreciate this movie

I absolutely love how each personality is reflected in the way they fly...sure theres the basic 6 degrees of freedom, but how they utilize them are directly related to the type of person they are....in a way it probably taught Mav more about them then formal introductions ever could.... Excellent movie!

"Go see Hondo about your push ups" has the exact same energy as "Now go home and get ya fuckin' shine box."

"Guys, that's a lot of push-ups" *in his mind* "for you, I'm not doing any..."

You just gotta love how Hangman always keeps his cocky nature, because he knows what he's doing and can do it better than everyone, but Maverick.

Experience beats enthusiasm every time. Love how he uses old tried and tested tactics as well (like going into the sun). It was the best of the best that got the ego check. A good sequel for sure!

I love how Rooster immediately starts putting on his oxygen mask and drops his visor as soon as Maverick starts talking while Fanboy and Payback ham it up. He knows that Maverick has actual combat experience and is very, very good at dog fighting so he takes no chances and gets ready to rock while the other hot dogs get caught with their pants down and end up getting schooled hard. It's little things like this that make a good movie a great movie.

5:45 I love how in this scene he did the move to lock on Rooster, then later does the same move to protect him.

By far my favorite scene from the movie. The intro to Won’t get fooled again just gets me so hyped and it fit this scene perfectly

I’m surprised that there are not more comments about Hangman literally being at a loss for words at 4:12… Flying side by side, Hangman is still giving Rooster heat. Rooster’s head is on a swivel the entire time the two of them are “chatting” because he knows Maverick is out there somewhere. When Maverick casually rolls up from underneath them, stating “been here the whole time” and “can you see me now” all Hangman can humbly say is “holy $hit”…. no cockiness from him this time… It’s like he’s finally realized he’s in the presence of a true master…

Even though Rooster had such contempt for Maverick, he still called him sir!!!

It's impressive that how they used " The Who"s song for this sequence, absolutely loved it.

"Ok easy Mav, lets try not to get fired on a first day!" My new mindset on a day job.

I liked how the inverted plane scene with Maverick against Rooster & Hangman was a subtle easter egg to the same scene in Top-Gun with Maverick & Goose helping Cougar against that lone MIG28

The thing I love most in this movie it's how after 30 plus years it hasn't forget its roots. You see a lot of references to the first movie and the soundtrack is still AMAZING! This scene is my favorite so far. I can't get tired of watching it.

Can we just give some props to the crazy actual pilots that had to pull off the Mav/Rooster corkscrew stunt?

The end game sequences were great. But my personal favourite moments were these training scenes and when Maverick ran the course.

No scene in any movie has made me feel like I was right there in the moment like this movie did. Literally felt my heart sink down to my stomach as soon as Maverick flew right up between the two fighter jets. One of the best movie theatre experiences ever.

That shot of Phoenix and Bob perfectly turning in and rolling out perfectly in formation with Hangman is so cool.

Pilots are a different breed. I was in a NAS training squadron during Vietnam (wasn't easy being the only female in Avionics!) One thing I learned, whatever you tell the pilot they can't do, they will! One was "Don't buzz the tower!" Another was for the harrier pilots, "Don't take off with a vertical jet jump!" We loved it of course. The best day I ever had was the day the Blue Angels were coming in for a weekend show. My job that day was to work on an aircraft at the end of the line. The runway was on a peninsula so the view from the cockpit was beautiful. Then I looked up and saw the Blue Angels were flying in! Not just flying in, doing all kinds of theatrics and it was like I was the only one in the world watching. that had a fantastic view! Siting high in the cockpit watching this amazing show. Then they landed right in front of me, incredible landing one after the other nose to tail and they even parked in unison. What a great memory. Another thing watching this video I remembered the pilots' helmets. They couldn't mess up their flying gear except the helmet and they had some crazy ones, funny ones. and some reallt artistic, wish someone had done a study on pilot helmet artwork!

Finally what WE ALL WANTED TO SEE! A legend protagonist of a remake actually being BOSS instead of a failure...

Maverick literally pulls a Cougar on Hangman by disappearing into the sun and popping up behind for a lock.

This was an amazing movie, from the start when he talks to the audience through all the acting and action, finally to the credits where he was LAST after all of the other pilot actor credits instead of being first.

Maverick alone accounted for his old instructors when he was young in this scenario.

"Phoenix, I can't see him! How close am I? Phoenix?" "I'm dead, dickhead" "See you in the afterlife Bagman" Best dialog in the whole movie 😂

Won’t Get Fooled Again in this scene - fucking chef’s kiss right there. So, so awesome. One of my favorite needle drops in a film in a while

Truly love the scenes where admiral said I just don't see what Iceman sees in you.... then at the end of the movie his nod tells it all.

This movie was great I loved how he never left them doubting into thinking they would never be able to do it but it’s the fact he encourages them to be the best of the best from his teaching

I love the look of Rooster who is all serious and putting down his visor getting ready for Maverick, whilst the others are still chilling. He knows what is about to come whilst the others have no idea.

I loved how Maverick went upside down on top of rooster to shock the cocky pilots

I really liked the interplay between Phoenix and Hangman. She has some great quips "this here's Bagman", "he'll always hang you out to dry", "so long as he doesn't call YOU a man", "I'm dead, dickhead". The camaraderie with Bob was great too. I also notice that since the exercise ends if anyone (not both) is killed, I think Phoenix might still be allowed to chime in after. Fighters can still fly after taking hits from a gun after all. But Phoenix refused to help Hangman out of spite.

'Go see Hondo about your push-ups!'....it's the rib and the barrel roll that gets me every time.

It’s cool to see the maneuver Maverick does to take out Rooster in this scene is the same maneuver Maverick does to save his life in the missile battle when Rooster runs out of flares.

This movie was filmed on my base while I was still in the Navy, and I witnessed it happen as I was separating in 2019.

Hondo back at base grinning. Taking bets with his ground crew on who would loose to MAVERICK first. ha ha "Morning AVIATORS. This is your Captain speaking." The whole movie was CLASS.

5:18 During an interview Miles Teller said that he was actually scared of dying when the pilot did this stunt and you can actually see the fear on his eyes.

Being up against a pilot with combat experience in a Tomcat,usually doesn't work out too well 🤣

I love how this was a humbling and respect building exercise for the cocky new pilots. Very well executed.

That Cobra maneuver gets me every time! The way they spiraled down to the deck was amazing to watch. Gotta love our countries fighter pilots! Real aviators flying those jets there. Remember that.

Cocky pilot vs cocky pilot who retained a bit of life experience. That was Maverick vs Hangman!

I have had sleep apnea for years and finally decided to do something about it by getting a CPAP machine. I got comfortable in my recliner, put my oxygen mask on, and then turned on this movie. LOL, it worked, I pretended I was a jet pilot and then fell asleep halfway into the move. My first night of therapy was enjoyable and I ended up sleeping better that night than I had in years. BTW, I finished watching the movie in the morning and loved it.

The raw emotion this scene gives off is palpable, especially with Rooster. You can feel the frustration, anger, and even heartbreak coming off of him. 1 objection, though. The F/A-18 can't do cobra maneuvers like that, but oh well, minor details.

I just love how Maverick's comment in the beginning of this clip tells you that no matter how impressed you are - THIS IS ACTUALLY MAVERICK GOING EASY ON THEM. Imagine him dogfighting without restraints. I would NOT want to be his enemy.

Took me way too long to notice that Rooster's helmet has a striping pattern similar to Mavericks. Except it's not meant to be similar to Maverick's, but his father's, which matched Maverick's exactly, just with different colors.

Such an amazing movie! Owning all the new pilots was one of the greatest scenes in the movie!

Mark my words, years from now, this movie will be remembered as a masterpiece, and a “classic”. It already is, one of the greatest movies of the 21st century tbh And still is in 2024

When my wife and I went to see “The Batman” they showed this as a sneak peak. At that point I had started to lose interest since the release kept getting delayed. However, once I saw this, I was hooked. It’s the only movie I’ve seen in theaters 3 times.

You can just tell that Tom Cruise had a lot of fun making this movie. It doesn't even feel like he's working to earn some money, he's just going on a sweet vacation

It's cool seeing these clips online now that the movie is past its long run. But my goodness, it will never be the same as watching it in the theater. This movie proved once again why the cinema experience is so important, despite the saturated flood of streaming content.

I always love how all the young pilots (except Rooster) get cocky and think they can easily beat an old pilot like Maverick only to get their asses handed to them and pay the price for it (the 200 push up bet)

This was the most anticipated, and exceptional continuation of the top gun franchise I, could of imagined.

The Kids are getting schooled in class Maverick 101. Remember ladies and gentlemen, these maneuvers were done by real pilots. The stunt pilots should be saluted along with the actors for this riveting scene.
