Carp fishing with Tom Forman for 24 hours! In the fifth instalment of the 24 series, we join Tom Forman on our very own Nash Lakes Royston. The theme for this episode is 'Zig Fishing' and the rules remain the same - 24 hours to catch as many carp as possible! Tom has had a great year fishing zigs and doesn't approach a venue without them!

Another good 24, shame the fish were not to obliging, I've never really use zigs s I've lost to many and have minimal confidence in them

Hi Tom, zigs are not really suited to 'weedy or snaggy' waters mainly due to the long lighter hooklinks.

Thanks for the video. Zig fishing is awesome shame a lot of day ticket waters ban it entirely or only let you fish 1 rod as zig only. Kind of defeats the object you weren’t ever going to catch that zig caught fish on the deck and you can’t force carp to feed on the bottom. Zigs work best on 3 rod set ups allowing you to make changes and capitalise on the feeding depth.

Something I always struggle with zigs.......... never had a carp on one and always try them when I think they offer more chance than fishing on the bottom but because I’ve never had one on one, it doesn’t fill me with confidence with them.

Hi Ashley, We would advise giving them a go on a more prolific high stock venue, getting a few bites and then taking the tactic to your chosen venue. Confidence is key 👊

For this session Tom opted to use his 'long range' set up which consists of 12ft rods and larger big pit reels. This set up is much more suited to the style and tactics Tom was using during this particular session.

3-4 ft hooklinks are ideal for fishing with adjustables, anything longer is often prone to tangling

Far from it Karl! That was only the second time Tom had fished the venue over the course of a two year period.
