he held it togother coz it was the easiest card for him to play. he became uncomfortable because his persona wasnt feeling right about the unpredicable circumstances. he decided to do nothing controversial and decided to not call out the interview because he knew (ofc it all went out rather uncounciously, so raher felt?) some people wouldnt like it
