Deb Hoover, now I am going to go out on a limb here and disagree with you. I have a playlist of all the versions of You'll Never Walk Alone. So far, no one can really beat the Righeous Brothers but I really like the version by Gerry and the Pacemakers. Brittiany Howard does a good version. I am just collecting them and Tom's is great too. RB are still no one in my imaginary competition about this, a song my mother taught me from Carousel and is so powerful. Tom really feels it here. Almost crying. I like that.

But any song, any piece of music, can be performed by more than one artist to great effect. The idea that there is only "one" version of anything that is worth listening to is silly. Great songs invite multiple interpretations and liking one takes nothing away from any other version.
