I feel you totally missed the point of the song and video. It's about battling your inner demons. It's about depression and anxiety. It's about fighting back with that part of yourself that tells you aren't worth anything. That no one cares about you. That nothing you do will be good enough. Him saying he's the "best rapper ever" isn't him flexing....it is him motivating himself to conquer that demon inside him telling him he sucks. Listen again.

The whole song describes his daily battles. I feel like Tom and Nova grind harder than anyone else, hands down. He has said in other songs how he never sleeps. I must say, I'm not a rap fan, but I'm a fan of Tom McDonald. He is doing something that got my attention.

Personally I can relate with this video going through the withdrawals and depression. It causes you to almost go to war with yourself in your mind years down the road. I'm almost 40 now and have sobered up from the painkillers when I was 19. That came about due to me marrying my wife and taking care of her son. The booze was next at about 25 or 26. All this time later when I have an extremely shitty day I still have to fight the urge to walk down the street to the bar or beer distributor and get a case. But everyone has their own experiences and opinions. Don't let peoples shit get to you and keep bringing the vids.

I don't think the song is about how he actually thinks he's the "best rapper ever", but rather it's a demonstration of his internal fight, the back and forth in his head. Especially when you're in the midst of a bout of depression. When your inner voice bombards you with all your faults, your failures, etc. He's showing how he tries to counteract that voice by shouting at it that he's "the best". I mean, this song made me cry, because I've also struggled with depression my whole life, and I've had these same battles in my own head. It's hard to describe, but it's like there are times when the only way to get that negativity to shut up is to (try to) believe that I'm better than the people/things that cut me down. I know that's not ACTUALLY true, but it's just a part of that internal struggle. Depression sucks! I could be wrong, but I really don't think this is the kind of "Look at how great I am", kind of song. Either way, I still appreciate your take!
