@@DarkThagan It happened in my country. The voters grew an anti-political sentiment that brought new-born parties (made of anti-political members) to the power. Those same new parties claimed to be THE change, to not be corrupted (and accusing others "classic" parties to be so) to know better what "the people" wanted. It's easy to say that clearly this didn't happened...As a matter of fact it damaged the democratic sentiment, it ruined what "politics for the people" could be and, most importantly, it mismanaged the state soo bad that they created more problems than what they solved. I don't know if I said what I wanted to say correctly, since english is not my first language, but to make it simple: don't critizice or condemn aprioristically all the politicians. Instead, search and inform yourselves about specific members, know their history and search which politician better suits your ideology. I know it's harder in a two-party system like in the US (which is why I said that my statement depends on the country and political system)

What people in your country did is just replaced known politicians with unknown ones. It was a lost gamble. The same happened in my country too, several times in a row. You can't change anything for the better until the very core of the system is changed since it is twisted to be used for abuse and corruption. I bet people have grown resentful of old politicians for a reason. The new ones being even worse just proves the point. Only politicians can get in a position of power, not statesmen.

Other countries will arrest you and lock you up indefinitely without a trial of any kind, for any reason. Countries like China will round you up based on race and cultural heritage and put you through special conditioning/reform therapy, and take you away from your family to assimilate you into their culture, or just outright kill you. In the middle east, people get beheaded weekly for things like being of a certain age without getting married like what we saw a couple of weeks ago in the news. That specific statement is just to set the correct tone. The fact remains that the list of countries that treat their people as well as America treats theirs is a VERY short list.
