Living legend right there. Savini's effects look 100 times better than that CGI garbage that is out these days.

It ain't special effects if there's no mess to clean up. Out with CGI and bring back the practical effects! [GWO]

I like how the kid's actually holding it's hand before Tom casually says "that's a real skeleton" 😂

I very vividly remember watching this when it aired -- we'd only had this newfangled 'cable tv' thingamajig for little while, and Livewire had become a favorite show on a favorite channel (Nickelodeon rocked SO much harder in the early years than it ever has since, you yung'uns don't know nuthin'! :) ). I was already a horror fanatic -- Hallowe'en and horror are in my DNA -- and I was already a Savini fan and knew this show was coming up so I made sure to be watching. It is really wonderful to see it again. It's amazing how much detail I can recall so well having last seen it over three decades ago (even the audience kid volunteer's name Chris). It was simply inspiring.

A guy who primarily does "gore F/X" on a kids talk show, only in the 80's!

"splatter films are on their way out" LOL, well they definitely came back in, didn't they? hahaha
@Vaporvice843 жыл бұрын
The first generation of splatter/slasher films were on their way out by '82. All low budget B-movies without big studios funding them. Then in the 80s the second generation came along with bigger budgets and mainstream appeal.

Now, if someone could finally post the first Livewire film festival. I'm trying to prove to friends the strange short film called Myron was real.

Great clip! If Tom went on a kids show today the PC baby’s would cry bloody murder...

Tom Savini is to horror what George Lucas is to sci-fi. He raised the bar so high that other special effects artists can only try in vain to be as good as him.

He mentions a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake going into production at the time. Ha! 36 years later and we're still wondering where it is?

@lt43245 жыл бұрын
@@dmanbigd1 wrong, Swamp thing was based on a comic book hero, where "The Creature" was completely different and a horror film and was not relevant to any comic books. JUST FYI

I think that not only is it disrespectful, but it's a lot less impressive when they use a real skeleton. Of course it looks great, he just bought a real one. Where's the skill in that?
