I have no ties to Chicago and have only been there twice on layovers, but I remember watching Tom on WGN down here in south Texas even as a little kid. Seems like a great guy and I know all of his fans will miss him. I know he said he'll still be around until February, but happy retirement, Tom! One of the GOATs in meteorology!

How sad. I used to live in Hinsdale, Illinois and I remember when Tom Skilling was new and watched him for years and years and years before moving to N.C.. I am certain many people will miss him greatly. Thank you, Tom, for your decades of tremendous work.

Back in the WGN America days (mid-‘80s until the late 2000s) is when I got to watch and appreciate Tom. He became a regular part of my day, along with the rest of the WGN crew, mainly thanks to the 9:00 News. But once politics got ahold of cable/satellite TV, and turned WGN local programming off for those of us outside of Chicago, (I was NW of Rockford.) it was like a best friend had deserted us. At any rate, thank you, Tom, for the years we were fortunate enough to follow you during your legendary career.

I recently moved from Chicago to the San Bernardino CA area, and it's somehow hard for me to grasp that most of these people around me didn't grow up with Tom Skilling.
