"...All we need we can get anywhere". Waits can write the most profound lyrics, yet there are so many that have never heard of him. I'm grateful that I have.

I'm a huge fan of his Letterman interviews and performances, and this song was one hell of a way to go out, no one can capture a mood better than Waits. People throw around the title of "musical genius" much too lightly, but that's exactly what Waits is, a true musical genius. And the best part, is that his fans all feel he's singing to them alone, we all feel that connection and we've never met him, extrodinary really. I'll always be thankful for "discovering" Waits at a College party in 88, Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, and Franks Wild Years, were playing at a dorm party, complete with a smokey bar in the back bathed in a dim blue light, I was God Smacked, never heard anything like it before or since, and he's been with me since that fateful day. To think had I not gone down to that party I might never have met him so to speak. I'm so glad I did, to this day the foundation to my Waits estate are those three albums, and then we go from there.

Tom's music always reminds me that there is joy in sadness, and hope in desperation. This song is like leaving your home in the summer to find joy in a new place.

This song reminds me of my home in New Orleans when I took one long last look of it in my rear view mirror when leaving town...memories of Hurricane Katrina.

This song really hits home... no pun intended.

Just don’t know why there’s no studio version of this amazing song.

I’ve taken a couple of one last looks. This song is so incredible. After studying in former West Berlin, I took one last look at all the trains and train tracks of the Hauptbahnhof ( main train station) . I took a couple photos with my Rollei or Pentax 1000 camera. Thank you Tom.

Very well done. I was very moved when Tom Waits performed this song on one of the last episodes of Late Night with David Letterman, and I have always wanted a proper recording of it, but this is a great video you put together.
