Ever since 2017 Australian open, there's a new level of confidence in his game. This is unreal at his age. He has a more complete game than ever before.

Adarsh B S It was a wonderful match. Even though the down the line backhand is a bit off, which might be of slight trouble against the inside out forehands of Chung. But since its Federer, lets hope he will accelerate and go on another level altogether. Looking forward to the semi-final. Btw everyone. Wimbledon 2017 was the same. Berdych played the best out of all of Roger's opponents and yet didn't manage to take a set off of him! Berdych-Roger rivalry has become like Roddick-Roger rivalry. It's just a bad matchup for Tomas now! No matter how well he plays, he always comes up short!

Berdych played really well, what a joke. He played just like he always does, badly and he is just too mentally weak (even weaker than Federer). If Federer faced prime Nole he would have crucified him like he did in 2011 and 2016 and you Fedfans are quite aware of that.

@vladimirstanescu66166 жыл бұрын
I guess you get a hint at how much effort Fed puts into it if you listen to former No1 Andy Murray after their match in Glasgow last year. On court, most people see only the shots, the skill, the "effortless" movement, but few know how much blood, sweat and tears is behind these. A top pro knows.
@RDSports56 жыл бұрын
The guy is just on another level from everyone else, has been for a long time. He's the greatest I've ever seen, both technically, completeness of game, just the array of shots he can hit that nobody else in history has been able to hit consistently.

+Oliver Martinez. who do u think will win the 🏆?
@ertugrulkorpinar516 жыл бұрын
Oliver Martinez the thing is fed has a good read on Berdychs serve he was all over it. Rally wise Federer made a good job to get Berdych on his wheels out wide to his forehand after peppering his backhand with some floating slices and some loopers. Berdych troubles to generate racket head speed when fed is placing them balls deep in the middle to his forehand because of his footwork.
@Olympiamaniac6 жыл бұрын
He is so experienced and tactically aware. Most other players have only a plan A, Federer can adapt so many ways. Truly on another level to the rest, tennis will never be same when federer and nadal are done - time to enjoy there last year or 2

Federer is an absolute genius. At 35, 36 his legs aren't what they used to be, and he knows it. So he attacks the net a bit more. He plays a bit higher-risk tennis from the baseline. He starts using drop shots more often, which he absolutely shunned when he was younger. All to end points earlier and take his legs out of the equation, or at least neutralize that factor. It's quite brilliant.

Now that Fed has won ♥, everybody is claiming that he will get the trophy (and even take 21st GS at Wimbledon this year). If he had lost that first set, maybe the story would be different. Berdych played terrific in the first games, reminded me of how solid he performed against DelPo, so it was just a bit of luck (and a lot of talent and mental strength) that Roger broke back. The TB was no luck, just pure genius plays. AO isn't over yet, and the other players have worked as hard (I suppose) so have some respect for them and please don't call Roger the winner until he gets that Championship point.

Kyle Links I agree, chung's serve is weak as hell and roger is more likely to take advantage of that, but it won't happen at every point, no way roger will return all of his serves in the best way possible, 50% if he is lucky, on the other hand, chung will completely outplay fed from the baseline in most rallies hitting winners and forcing errors, if roger loses, i wouldn't be mad at all cuz chung is already an astonishing player.

This is scary form. I had some concerns that he was playing TOO relaxed in this tournament. As it turns out, he's just only doing what he has to. Then when he needs to turn it up a bit, he does and the other player is helpless. Berdych was in white-hot form all tournament too.
@qubitz59066 жыл бұрын
Yep he's by far the best there's ever been, playing the best he's ever played in my opinion, and a genius (who could deny). I feel sorry for Berdych that when he's playing some of his best tennis he's has the bad luck to get drawn in the same half of the draw as Federer, but he should have no problem winning in rotterdam next week as, along with Nadal, he was comfortably the second best player in this tournament. This is also what he needs to do - if he continues to loose to the top players in grand slams then too bad, but he should make sure he wins the minor tournaments he enters against 'lesser' or relatively weaker opponents. Someone with his talent and consistancy shouldn't have just 13 titles won in the career, you shouldn't have less than players like Gasquet and Ferrer who he's equal too and better than in terms of talent. If he does continue to chocke at that lesser level than grand slam, then unfortunately the heartless media will continue to say why doesn't he just retire.

Age is just a number we all know that. Hopefully he doesn't retire until he is at least 50...

Lol at everyone warning Federer about Berdych test. Berdych played out of his skin and still lost in straights Chung is going to be a huge test, though. the toughest so far this whole tournament. If Federer can get through Chung, he'll win the AO for sure
