Grafting tomato on eggplant rootstock is one way of eliminating bacterial wilt, which is a very destructive disease of tomato. Research showed that grafted tomatoes in the eggplant rootstock yielded a 21% higher than the ordinary tomato seedlings.

For those who think this is waste of time or boring. The most delicious and exotic fruits that are imported to other contents from Asia is grafted from two or three trees. My grandpa used to do that.

I try grafting kalamansi grafted with golden duranta flower the result is the fruit is kalamansi with a stripe of gold because of the color of golden duranta very nice the taste is also lemon only the color change

So, for anyone who doesn't know what just happened, when he joined the two plants together, over the course of time, the xylem and phloem which are the vascular tissues in the plant, merged and thus the two plants were joined together forming half tomato, and half eggplant. The fruit to be bore will in fact be tomatoes since that is what the top portion of the plant is.

Which means a waste of time and plant. You had 2 now 1. I could understand if the eggplant and tomato grew up grafted bearing both fruits.

@@albertdowrn No, you get benefits. Like the eggplant can be stronger on diseases . So your tomato becomes as strong as the eggplant. So it's stronger than other tomatoes

Of course for those who are thinking, you won't get tomato and eggplant on the same plant (the type of flower really depends on the nodes with young leaves). Eggplant here provides its root system to the grafted tomato trunk. Eggplants are thought to be more resistant to soil based pathogens hence people graft tomatoes like this. How big of a difference does it really make? I can't answer that I'm afraid.

You have to show on your video what happened after you grafted two plants. I noticed that all your video are just showing your grafting but not showing results. You’re just leaving your viewers ask to themselves and guess what will happen later on.

Don,t be confused .its just a grafting .egg plant and tomato both belongs to same famlies and upper part bear tomato fruit. Not brinjal and the lower brinjal part is called root stock basically grafting on a brinjal makes the plant more resistant to over watering or flooding and tomato plants roots not tolerate over water .its the reason

I believe this would grow tomatoes because that's what the entire top half is, however if you look it up there are grafted trees that grow multiple different fruits

Sir, I would like to know whether this grafting is done to make the tomato plant more healthy and what is the result? Would there be only tomatoes or both brinjals and tomatoes? Can we graft an egg plant on a tomato plant

Grafting is done to increase plants disease resistance and or production. for annual crops like these, it is mostly done to increase growth and production both in quantity and in harvest period. from my limited experience i have only heard of eggplant/brinjals as the Zion and a hardy tomato used as the root stock. many ways to do this not just this method. fruit will be as the zion,

As Mark G mentions, the fruit will be that from the scion. More accurately, the fruit is appropriate to the tissue it grows from, which is normally the scion. You could get both if the stock was allowed to send up a sucker to grow independently, though that kind of growth normally compromises the scion and is considered undesirable. I haven't tried this graft. Most likely the graft would take either way, but keep in mind that the eggplant is typically going to be a heavier plant with strong stems compared to a tomato. Support would likely be an issue grafting an eggplant onto a tomato stock. You wouldn't get the benefits that motivated the graft in the first place, either. There are tomato varieties that are specifically intended as stocks for other types of tomatoes, by the way. Those might be a better choice than eggplant, though seeds can be expensive. On a home gardening scale you might consider propagating the stock via cuttings.
