Very nice looking mater. Bet that would make some awesome fried green maters. Thanks for the taste test and info on this one. Hope you folks have a great weekend.

Thanks tons! I was pretty impressed with how well this one did for us in a container. Most of it went over the fence to the neighbors and they have at least a dozen over there ripening. LOL Fried green really sounds like the best use for it. I would almost say sandwich slicer, but for us it really seemed dual flavored and a ton others seem more fitting. Really happy to see this one this year for sure. Hope your weekend goes great as well. :)

UT33200 I hope so 😍 I’ve had some really bad back problems so I couldn’t garden at all since spring... I’m about 80% better, so 🤞🏻

Thanks a bunch! This is a really fun and unique type for sure. If they both work out for you then maybe you could try them side by side to see how they compare. :)

Thanks a bunch! We are definitely not professionals but want what we show to be a bit relevant. Leads to having our nerves shot being on camera but we are getting more use to it. :)

I like the meaty tomatoes like this. We got 3 pineapple ones off the sprout you gave us and it's now our fav big tomato.

Thanks a bunch! Always cool pulling off meaty tomatoes for us since we have such a harder time of it in containers. That Pineapple tomato is really good. In Angel's top 3. :)

Sure looked good from here. That one sure was an attractive tomato. We are just about done with tomatoes here.

Thanks tons! A really unique look for sure and also weird in that it tasted like two individual tomatoes depending on where we were eating from. Our tomatoes here are about to ripen and alot on the vines but the next 4 days brings a severe cold snap. Bracing for impact. LOL

Oh that is a GORGEOUS tomato!Does it taste anything like the Green Zebra? I have never tried this one, but intend to, It sounds and looks delicious! I like how the pink heart contrasted agains the green flesh and seeds.TFS!😊👍💕

Thanks a bunch! A really unique tasting tomato for sure. The white core with the stripe was extremely mild in flavor but the green outer edges had the green tomato type flavor. I think we had such a hard time explaining it since it was like trying two different types in one tomato if that makes sense. :)

Interesting looking tomato but green just doesn't seem right. 😖 I might just be old 👨🦳 and set in my ways. 😁 Then why do I think purple or black is ok? 🙄 Well done Kiddo. 🦒Best wishes Bob. 🌴
@UT332004 жыл бұрын
Thanks tons! The greens are a desired taste for sure and they also can be tough to determine ripe. Does feel weird every time we try them though and have to manage past the hint and flavor. Hoping its not an age thing. LOL Purple/black gets a free pass with how well it tastes. LOL

I am assuming that you got your seeds from Dale. I sent him a list of 400+ varieties that I was looking for and he had 250 of them which I bought. There is also a BTD red which has a regular leaf and there is a BTD heart as well. All 4 of these came from Wild Boar Farms.
@UT332003 жыл бұрын
Thanks a bunch! Am unsure of who Dale is but that sounds like a ton of varieties to have on hand. Pretty sure these seeds are from Wild Boar Farms though via Baker Creek. Then the sprouts were given to us by a local grower/friend of ours we get a couple varieties from each year. Would like to see the info on that Dale guy though if you have it. If that is the Utah seed saving/testing guy I may have met him once during a seed exchange down in my little hometown. :)

I researched this and I do believe it is the same Dale I remember. From 'Delectation of Tomatoes'? Thanks for the memory and the reconnect. I had forgotten who he was and how to get in touch. :)
@fridomsnowbird53983 жыл бұрын
Yes it is Delectations of tomatoes. You should also check out mariannasheirloomseeds.com .They have over 5,000 varieties in their inventory. These are my two favorite sites for rare heirloom tomato seeds.

Are there 3 different Tie Dyes strains out there ? Original, Pink and Green Tie Dye ?
@UT332002 жыл бұрын
Thanks a bunch! That is a really good question. I thought I had a good handle on the info but looking into it seems all over the place. I am going to throw some random thoughts and opinions out here but I am in no way 'in the know' and want to just brainstorm a bit. I had thought the original BTD was the Green and bred as a special program by Berkeley College quite awhile back. Nearly heirloom(40-50 years) ago. As far back as 8-10 years ago all I saw online was the Green and just labeled as 'Berkeley Tie Dye'. There were a few pink but shown as a variation of the original. Now all the internet talks about is the pink and it being a variation from Brad Gates between 15-20 years ago. Even the history of the green or original is flooded with info back to the pink. In my opinion and this is just a current thought, the Green is the original and the pink is newer but more sought after and became quickly in reputation the most known making 2 major types. It could very easily be 3 too with the original making way to a more green type and then settling on a third hybridized pink. Sorry about the super long comment. This was a good question and I am in no way a pro but learned alot from answering and putting forth a guess. :)
@UT332002 жыл бұрын
Looking into it even more I think you are right. The original but many started referencing to as 'green' to differentiate between the newer pink. Then a newer green from a variation on the newer pink being marketed as 'Green BTD'. 3 types. :)

How can you do a proper taste test with off the vine ripened tomatoes? Smh, doesnt matter what variety of tomato it is, if its picked green and ripened off the vine, its gonna taste like a generic tomato.
@UT3320011 ай бұрын
Thanks tons! I agree but don't think I ever have. The few in the box for this video were an experiment and the one we tested was from the vine. I may of in the past though but only a day or two off the vine and ripening already. Slightly disagree too on the generic counter flavor. A yard tomato will always beat a store bought generic no matter how it ripens. It does lose alot of its rich flavor though off the vine. Not sure if our older videos we have done this but are not professionals and growing with each video.
