Thanks Alex. As a small space gardener, these “what not to grow” videos are just as helpful so I don’t waste precious time and space of tomatoes that aren’t that great.

Sometimes soil conditions deteriorate the taste. I had planted great white tomatoes and they started sweet and good, but after adding some water from a neighbor's fish pond for fertilizer, the flavor was ruined ever-after. Tasted like dead fish even weeks later!

Yes it’s true, Sweet Adelaide didn’t turn out as I hoped. During the stabilisation process it lost its sweetness that was present in the second generation, and even if you grow 100 plants of the third or fourth generation etc. you may not find the same taste again!

From the many varieties I've tried, the best flavor are Delicious hunt strain, Curtis cheek, Abe Lincoln, Paul Robeson, pineapple, Dester, Hazel Mae, Texwine, Gold Medal, German Pink, Australian Beauty among the hundreds. Will be trying out new ones this year. I've tried the varieties you’ve showcased here that i can get hold of.

Like #90. I’ve been trying to find yellow cherry potato leaf seeds.

Gargamel was my big disappointment. BEAUTIFUL coloring, nice size, stayed long on the vine without rot or pest problems - flesh was a beautiful deep ruby red, with few seeds. We were looking forward to the flavor, but were immediately disappointed. Very bland, and skin was very thick and tough. Good thing about it - it cooked very well, so IF I grow it again, it will be a sauce tomato only.

The one I disliked the most because of the amount of soft flesh with no taste (but good for sauces) was the German Johnson. When I tasted my Stupice and Moskvich *(not Moskovich another kind) for the 1rst time I said: that's what I'm looking for!. Note that I'm in Canada, can't grow every varities but those 2 very early are apparently tasting better in colder climate.

I wonder if certain varieties just are plain better in particular zones and soil. I grew sart roloise a few years ago and yeah it was productive and beautiful but the taste was non-existent

I have grown Sweet adalaide in Denmark and found it tasteless.

Hi Alex! On your Kentucky Beefsteak, it looked overripened - interior flesh had begun to separate.

Orange Roussollini - zero flavor. There was lots of hype about this one, due to the video The Best Tomato I will Ever Have by Migardener. This is not a criticism of Luke, I respect what he is going, just this variety is not good. I tried once and the seeds seems to be crossed and performed very poor. I bought new seeds a few years later and tried again, growing in Earthbox and giving it great conditions. It was a prolific determinate grape cherry, lots of fruits. The fruit was so bland there is no hint of any flavor. I left the fruits to rot on the plants or for the wildlife to eat. Barry Crazy Cherry - no flavor Black Zebra - good yield, no flavor Yellow Stuffer - was very interesting to grow this because the fruit is similar to bellpepper with hollow core. No flavor except sour (not the flavorful kind). Variegated tomato - very poor performance SunGold F1 - okay, I do have a few left over seeds. After I used them up I will stop buying it. There are just too many good open pollinated cherries now. I don't want to go on a rant about hybrid seeds becoming too overpriced to be worth it anymore. New Big Dwarf - I want to like it very much, I have tried three times and in both Southern and Northern climate, every time it get diseased and barely produced. Not tomato, but cucumber that are not wilt resistance or not burpless - Grew big and beautiful Straight Eight cucumbers last year, instant wipe out by cucumber beetles carrying bacterial wilt.
