this is exactly what a remaster should be. not trying to reinvent the wheel, just tidying up the graphics a bit to make them acceptable by modern standards.

Of course they will because that is exactly what Nintendo is doing for all of the remastered collections. :) Examples: Grandia I & II HD Remastered Collection Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remastered Collection Dragon Quest I, II & III Remastered Collection Final Fantasy Pixel Remastered Collection I, II III, IV, V, & VI Mana Collection (Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, & Trials of Mana) Chrono Cross Remastered We will definitely have physical copies to buy for this Trilogy!!!

@@spid3rchick it depends on the developer though, those weren’t down to Nintendo. No idea who is developing this one (it was originally Eidos), as the franchise had been up in the air for years. I just don’t see it, as they only mentioned the eShop specifically at the end, unlike other recent preorder games like Pikmin 1+2, Red Dead etc.

My mouth literally dropped! I have been itching to play the original trilogy! I love that the updated graphics portray a cleaner look of how Lara looked in cutscenes during that time. So cool the game comes out on Lara’s birthday lol.

Yeah. I noticed how the game has a new HD coat of point but said coat of paint is very very faithful to the original aesthetic. I mean.. given that there's a retro mode at the switch of a button, it's the old game running ontop of the new graphics a la Wonder Boy, so.. yeah. The same old game but new coat of paint which isn't terribly bad.

Same. I expected this after Crash and Spyro but it's been so long I kinda stopped. I'll say though based on the trailer Lara looks great but they probably could have improved the textures and scenery a bit more.

This is such a win for the fans of the classic era of Tomb Raider games! Words can not describe my happiness. Big shout out to everyone who is pouring their hearts into this project. A guaranteed pre-order here. This franchise was my childhood. I hope everyone gives this huge support. Would love to see Chronicles & The Last Revelation ported at a later date & perhaps a remake of The Angel of Darkness in the form of the imagined trilogy they had hoped for in the early 2000s ❤️🤞 thank you so much for this gift & for supporting the preservation of the true treasure that is this franchise ❤

I'm pretty sure this is some "test" run so if this sells well, they'll most likely release TLR, Chronicles and AOD too. I'm also hoping for Legend, Anniversary and Underworld to be ported over too at some point.

I can’t stop watching this! So happy! I remember getting the first game for Christmas in 96 when I was 5 years old and now I’m 32 and could not be more excited to jump back in! Same here man 32 bern playing since 6-7 when i played the first 2 games, it wasn't until I was 18 did i experience the masterpiece that is TR 3, all perfect games, couldn't have hoped for a better 3 games in the series to come out 🎉😁

@@talestalento2911 Almost 35 here. I made it pretty far in tomb raider 1 and 2 but always got stuck. Got really stuck in tomb raider 3. I actually managed to beat 4 somehow lol. Was very proud of myself. No guides or help or any of that jazz but man i think my playtime was crazy high. 75 percent of the time I was stuck. Feels amazing when you figure a way forward in these games. They dont hold your hand at all which I frickin love. Wish more games were designed the way CORE did these great classics. Cant wait to dive in and try again. Will I beat them all now? Time will tell.

@brianlaudrupchannel you don't need ray tracing and 4k, and a game rebuilt from the ground up, for it to be remastered. This is how I want it. Like the orignal, tweaked gameplay and the same level design. This is a retro upgrade, not a remake. You can have both things, it's 2023. There's something for everyone

I can't tell you how many hours i spent as a kid just running around the mansion trying to escape the old butler. He would suddenly appear, and like a horror film, my bros and I would scream and run into the garden. He was always there .. following... making those old man noises 😂

I'll add.. I EXPECT these to come to other platforms.. The first is a Saturn/PS1/PC game.. The second and third are PS1/PC. If I was to guess, the Nintendo release is a little easier because it has no achievements system to wire up.. Where as a PS/Xbox/Steam platform release would need that work done.. I also wonder if the other 3 Core Design Tomb Raider games will get a release? The Last Revelation, Chronicles, The Angel of Darkness Maybe in another package? Similar to how Konami are treating the Metal Gear remasters?

OH MY GOD! This is absolute perfection! I hope they release this in physical media! And I hope to see The Last Revelation, Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness receiving the same treatment. And for AoD, I'd love to see ALL the cut content finally in the game. If it was planned for AoD originally, it would be perfect to have on a re-release. And, of course, fix all of the bugs on that game.

I’m screaming!!!! We’ve been asking YEARS and decades for a remaster at this point for atleast the first 3 classic TRs and the fact they added the bonus level for each game to is great! Because TR 3 the lost artifact is hard to find physically (even tho I have a copy) but it runs meh. Can’t even use a controller for it on PC for some reason so I’ll be able to finally play it with a controller! I am a little worried about Aspyr doing it though. Their ports are hit or miss tbh.

The release date is Lara Croft's birthday. The Lara Croft from Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3, The Last Revelation, Chronicles and Angel of Darkness was born on February 14th 1968. The first three Tomb Raider games are set in the late 90's.

Good stuff. Had fond memories playing them back in the days especially the first Tomb Raider game when 3D gaming was starting to take off big. Looking forward to revisiting these games again. Would also like to see them re-releasing Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Tomb Raider Underworld for the modern platforms.

One of the more pleasing announcements of the Direct for me. Played the OG on the Saturn back in the 90's. The remake on the Wii/360 was ok but having the OG with updated visuals will be awesome. I wonder if the controls have been changed at all? 🤔

I wonder if the sequels to this game will also make an appearance for the Switch? The one that was released for the PS2, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC was not only a criminally overlooked game, but it was also the game that literally brought the franchise back to life. Also, if I do recall correctly, this is possibly the first time that a Tomb Raider game was made for a Nintendo system since the criminally underrated side-scrolling outing that was made for the Game Boy Color.

I doubt anything from the PS2 and beyond will make the transfer. I am surprised this didn't include Last Revelation and Chronicles as they are from the same era. But it makes sense given that they are likely following that "trilogy" pattern from remastered games like Spyro, Crash, and even GTA. Also, you are talking strictly Nintendo here, but this will also be released for PS4/5, Xbox, and on PC via Steam

Cannot frickin wait. Best announcement of the show imo. They look great and I love that they seem to be very faithful, The originals are fantastic but visually are very dated and look horrible on massive TV while this version with its remaster graphics should look fine. I love that it looks to have the same control scheme too. I love the grid based design of the originals. They were done basically as puzzle exploration games with a sprinkle of action as opposed to modern tomb raider games that are modern action with a sprinkle of exploration. (hand holdy exploration at that) Physical edition of this please! :D

I have been waiting for this for ages. Those original PC games are a little awkward to get running these days. It's a shame they didn't include 4 and 5 but the PC bonus levels being included is awesome.
