Say what you will, this town has maintained authentic western history, it comes with a price. You should have asked some of those people about the bars you were in, chances are some of the actual bars in the saloons are the real deal from 1860's. Some of the most friendly people wanting to share the history.
@rickkinki46245 жыл бұрын
Not from the 1860s, Tombstone wasn't founded until about 1877. But yeah, some of the saloons have been around since the days of Wyatt Earp.

I was there in the spring of 1965 when I was 13 years old. Passing through on my way from Alaska to Virginia. I know it is out of the way, but my dad was in the Army moving from one posting to another. He wanted me and my younger siblings to see some country, so we were going to visit Disneyland ( closed on the day we were supposed to go ), Marineland and Tombstone. Tombstone was a tourist town then as well, but much more rustic. I think I liked it better then.

Hi Sarah! Great little short video of your visit :) I have visited this place twice within the last 30 days. Once about 3 or so weeks ago by myself, then again on Monday 1/4 with a buddy of mine. Very cool historic mining town. We watched the gunfight show at the Old Tombstone Western Theme Park. We almost did the OK corral show, but decided on the other one instead. Had lunch at the Crystal Palace saloon. Enjoyed some fish n chips and a Sioux City Sarsaparilla :) There is a stand on I believe 4th street, that sells "Tombstone Sarsaparilla", and it is served frosty cold ;) That hat shop you visited, I peeked inside as I was walking down Allen street, but didn't actually go in. But I remember that big rack of hats. There is another place in town also that sells hats and other "western wear." Glad you had fun on your visit. Oh, we also visited Boot Hill Cemetery as we were on our way out of town.

I live here in Arizona, and it is my dream to visit Ireland! I will go someday, I have family history there. I have to say that Tombstone is not that great. It has a lot of interesting history, but they have turned it into a big gift shop and a silly tourist attraction. There are many, many much more AMAZING places in Arizona. Tombstone is only worth it if you are very interested in old west history.

I remember being offered a photo album to buy filled with war photos from the Desert Storm a few years after that war ended. A soldier must have taken them with his own personal camera. Most of them were photos that must have been taken just after places got bombed. There were many of military vehicles and cars all burned out with the people all burned to a crisp inside them looking like they died screaming. The drivers and passengers were still sitting upright in almost every photo. Others photos were of bodies on the ground all burned up. Some were of IRAQ soldiers of shot up into pieces of meat , blown up people, pieces of body parts and guts and even some that were ran over by tanks crushed into goo. Some photos were during fighting I remember seeing a helicopter flying low being fired on and just ready to be rained down on by all kinds of small rockets for something. The photographer got the shots just before it got hit while people were fighting on the ground below not to far from it. It was pretty gory to see so many photos of dead people who died so horrifically but that's war. Yes war is pretty nasty. I am very thankful for those who have served and sacrificed for the rest of us. After seeing photos like that you realize you can never give them enough respect and thanks for their service and sacrifice.

I love this old town. I first was here as a kid back in the early 1970s. Everything was still the same when I went back to visit back in 2016. The only thing I had was unusual was a shadow figure that woke me up at 0400 in the morning at the baseball diamond at the school and across from the public bathrooms across the street. I saw it for about 10 seconds and it turned to walk away as it woke me up. I got up from my truck in the driver's seat and was gone. Heard nothing and saw nothing. Very creepy. I had a steak and eggs breakfast at the O.K. Café and asked if there were anything unusual about where I slept at? They said no. Because people from out of town and towns folks see all kinds of strange things at night when staying at Tombstone at night. Very nice to walk around the town at night before sleeping I think does run a person's imagination before bedding down. Honestly more stuff goes down in Las Vegas NV than any wild west town like Tombstone.

On hats: Most inexpensive straw hats are made from rice straw. But real straw hats can get wet and laid flat will be good as new. And THOSE are expensive, but last far longer than wet rice straw hats. Gonna be expensive in a tourist town too. On fit: there are round and long oval hats. Maybe more shapes, but those seem most common. Your probably long oval, so a round hat wont fit. Also, depends on how you plan to wear your hair. I bought all my Stetsons at a 6th gen shop in Houston called Shultes which no longer exists downtown. Moved to a facility to help folks learn a trade.

The Red River "D" belt buckle appeared in ONLY 9 of his movies between 1948 - 1970. Rio Bravo (1959) North to Alaska (1960) Hatari (1962) McClintock! (1963) Circus World (1964) The Sons Of Katie Elder (1965) El Dorado (1967) The War Wagon (1967) Rio Lobo (1970) Between four o'clock on the afternoon of September 24, 1981 and one o'clock in the afternoon on September 25, 1981 the John Wayne Red River D belt buckle was stolen from Bohlins and has not resurfaced to this day. And something else, John Wayne never wore the buckle with his initials on, he always wore the buckle with HWH, HWH stood for Howard Winchester Hawks.
