Yes! It's not about making one or two episodes, it's about creating a library of work- and you can't do that if you're not excited about the topic.

One thing to consider is your podcast doesn't have to go on forever. A 20 episode, 10 episode, 4 episode show is perfectly fine. Consider it like an audio book you're writing with your voice and if it only works for 13 episodes, congrats! You just recorded your first audio book in podcast form.

The best way to learn is to start teaching others. Audio quality is more important than video quality. Edit before publishing. Prepare the environment, tools, editing and publishing so that producing an episode is easy, then you can focus on the content. The title and cover image are important. Be consistent. Trust yourself.

I learned that gear is important for quality but shouldn't delay starting - focus on upgrading over time. Free tools like GarageBand can still produce decent audio quality. I loved the practical advice on microphone positioning and techniques for better sound quality. The recommendation to start with any platform and adjust later was liberating. Your suggestion to focus on starting the podcast and gradually upgrading gear is solid advice; it's about progress over perfection. Choosing topics that genuinely excite me is key - passion keeps the momentum going.

Hello Tom! I am a Brand New Podcaster and I recently took your advice and bought the RODE PODMIC And I have fallen in love with it. I’ve actually purchased 4. I am apart of a online store that sells People that belong to the radio station I work for RODE Microphones for 10% off. My question for you is this: I have the PODMIC And I really love the RODECASTER. but the problem is that it’s extremly pricey is their a way I can get a discount on it or are their any alternatives temporarily? I really love the RODE-CASTER. RODE-CASTER is definitely suiting the needs of the Production I will be doing. How Sturdy is the RODE-CASTER? Is it built well? Or is it made of cheap plastic? I heard the quality is very well which I must take sure of before I fund any savings. What’s your opinion of the build quality Tom?
@tombuck
@tombuck 3 жыл бұрын
The Rodecaster, like every Rode product I've used, is super well built. Plus it has an awesome warranty and great customer support. You know the build quality of your PodMic? The Rodecaster is just as good. As for discounts, I really have no idea. I'd imagine that depends more on the store you're looking at, but I don't see a lot of sales on this kinds of stuff.

I have been fighting with the idea of a pod cast that is themed as a radio hour kind of? Because radio was that little bit different where… You might hear a story. Then a song then a funny commercial, ETC. There’s a podcast about everything. I suggest to always keep trying and I am. I started a small podcast just with my dad and I discussing the city we live in. And it worked well. I just had other stuff more important going on. So what does everyone think? Should I start the pod cast radio show? Love you all god bless! Thank you!

Great question Lauren! There are a lot of simple recorders out there, like the Zoom P4 which have some of the Rodecaster's features at a lower price. But of course, you can also get started with just a phone or a simple USB mic connected to your computer. GarageBand is a great free editing app for the Mac and Audacity is a great free choice for Windows. Then upload your file to a hosting platform and you're all set!

That's a good question! I don't touch on it too much because for the most part, it's pretty slim pickins' Some platforms let you embed ads kind of like KZfaq, but the payoff is very very small. Oooh, that's a tough one. They're very different with the PodMic being a dynamic and the NT1 being a condenser, so they'll pick up different environmental sounds. But if I had to make a choice, speaking very generally, I'd say the NT1 is better. It's an incredibly natural sounding mic, and since it's a condenser it has plenty of gain via Phantom Power so you won't need to worry about signal boosters.

That's a tough one, but an important question. Personally, I think giving the show context is important. Let them know a bit about the show and WHY they would be a good fit for the audience. Also be clear about the time commitment/process. Do they need a camera? Is it audio-only? All of those things can help.

@@tombuck Thanks Tom, I appreciate your insight. I just discovered your channel recently and I absolutely love the content! As a podcaster and content creator myself, your updates on all the latest recording equipment has been huge for me. Also, congratulations on 100k subscribers, you deserve it!

I don't remember the exact seller, but I found it on Etsy. There are a few people making audio waveforms from the song or file of your choice 👍

I don't think you understand the Pandora's box you just opened... In our family we have 2 B&W Border collies, a business of ferrets, 1 single polish crown hen, along a Siamese kitten. How am I supposed to allocate a camera for all that? (mic'n the chick'n is a great idea tho')

I knew it! You ARE intelligent. No, podcasts are great, I keep returning, but for proof? Intelligent people have intelligent dogs - like short-haired Border Collies, right? Keep up the good work, have BC give its opinion? No... oh.
