Let’s do comparison between The Slow and Sear 22 Kettle Grill by SNS Grills. vs The New Weber 22” Master Touch Premium Kettle Grill. Which one is Better? Which one would you choose?

A couple notes regarding the advantage of the SnS top not being attached: 1. SnS provides a side holder which works perfectly to slide the top into. It be comes 2nd nature. 2. With the top in the side holder, It can act as a wind block on a windy day if you turn your grill appropriately. 3. The top can also rotate, so you can have the vent located where you want it depending on how/what you are cooking. 4. Sometimes, having the top removed and out of the way is handy, like when you are adding charcoal on an extended cook. 5. If you use the rotisserie, the top cannot be attached. On the Weber, you have to detach the top. Regarding installing the ash tray after emptying it on the SnS, I don’t think you need three eyes. The first few times it seems awkward and you wonder if you have it in the right place, but after that you don’t even think about it. You know it is seated properly. I’ve never used the Weber, so I can’t comment. It does take an hour or so to put the SnS together. This is most likely the same on the Weber, but I don’t know. The SnS is very stable, but very portable. The grill on the SnS is stainless steel. This means it will last pretty much forever. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with mine and would not hesitate to recommend it for slow and sear grilling, smoking meats, and rotisserie.

Great video. I bought the SnS and have never regretted it. The side table is great. The vent and temp garage locations are also fantastic. The probe hole convenient. The smoke hole is great to use in setting and holding temps. Stable as well. SnS just included many convenient and useful touches in the design.

Thank you for this video. I started grilling 6 months ago with a 57cm Weber Compact Kettle, never grilled before and nor had my extended family. Now when looking to upgrade, I'm torn between these two and the two features you wish were on the other are my Kryptonites. The hinged lid would be perfect as I have nowhere to put my lid down and cannot get the hang of the hook quickly, but the shelf would also be ideal as I lack any kind of workspace too! The Compact doesn't fit the Slow'n'Sear Deluxe properly though working around that issue isn't too bad. I take your point about the vents on the Weber not being as conducive to Slow'n'Sear usage as a standard kettle lid would be. I use an iGrill 2 and iGrill holder with my Compact Kettle and that little 'smoke hole' would be handy but it's not a big loss, I haven't had any degradation in my cables caused by my lid yet. The GBS interests me but not enough to sway any of my decision making and that diffuser plate, I'm not sure if I'd make use of that other than turning it into a heavy serving platter. They're both pretty hard to get right now and are carrying the Summer price premium but I think it's safe to say that choosing between the two is not going to be easy at all.

I know I'd go with the SNS because I just placed an order for one an hour ago. Don't get me wrong, I love Weber. I have an 18" Weber Smoky Mountain, an 18" Weber kettle, a Weber Smoky Joe, and a Weber E330 gas grill. I also had a 22" copper Weber kettle, but recently gave it away. Then I watched a video of the SNS kettle and was sold. It has all the things I was always complaining that Weber didn't have; Port for BBQ Guru, port for electronic temp probes, and the temp gauge placed on the side of indirect heat. If Weber would just do these 3 things, I'll sell the SNS and go back to the Weber kettle. But for now, I'll be receiving a kettle that has all the features I've wanted for a long time.

I really enjoyed your review Tom. Both grills have great features but as an owner of a Weber Performer that uses a slow n sear I would stick with the Weber and it’s diffuser plate over the slow n sear. I’ve had longer low and slow burns with the charcoal on one side next to a water filled aluminum pan (10+ hrs) then with the slow and sear (8 hrs) plus I never had to worry about the pan boiling out the water. I also have the sns drip n griddle with is the biggest disappointment when I tried to use it for cooking breakfast as it quickly warped from the heat.

Great comparison video Tom! As you stated both kettles have their pluses and minuses... I never liked the three-legged wobbly design of the Weber kettle and that's why I bought the Weber performer with the fold-down shelf a few years ago. It's been a fantastic cooker (with and without my SNS). If I was buying a kettle today, like you, it would probably be the SNS Kettle. I just think it's set up to both grill and smoke out of the box without modifying anything. With that said, I really do like Weber's new bottom "P" vents and the charcoal ring with defuser plate! I'm still not sold on the lid hinge though... Maybe that's because of the hinge and/or vent placement. Again, great video! Sorry about being wordy...

@@randalltaylor3700 Thanks Randall. I do have that hinge on my WSM. But it would lift the lid up too much on my Kettle, also the lid Handel would interfere with the back of the Cart. The premium appears to not lift the lid up as much and there is not a handle on the top.

Excellent review, very well done. I would still choose the Weber though. My experience has taught me that unless you're grilling on a hard flat surface like concrete or asphalt the 4 leg system is inherently unstable. Many people use their grills on a lawn and/or take their grill camping and the naturally uneven surface makes the three legged system much more stable. From a grilling standpoint though I'm sure either grill can deliver the same results. It's just a matter of preference. Personally I think both grills are over rated and over priced. Give me regular ole' Weber any day. It's less expensive and I'll give you the exact same results that either of those grills produce. Again, very well done review.

I kinda agree that they are pricey but what isn’t today... I also agree the result would be the same from either of these grills or and other in the Weber lineup. For me the ash can is much better than the little saucer deal. It’s a matter of making the grill work for you I think. I probably would have got the SNS but I caught a Master Touch on sale for nearly the same price as the premium original kettle from Weber with the P vents. I think the P vents to the smoke hole on the SNS. Personally the SNS seems more ready to smoke out of the box as many use the "Smoke Hole” as the vent for smoking without the air systems. The P vent is a nice idea as I think it gives more fine tuned adjustment for smoking but I think it still lets in too much air still. That SNS comes pretty well loaded up with gingerbread when you compare it to the Master Touch maybe about the same as the Master Touch Premium

My current model was purchased right after I had to junk my first. I asked for a Sn'S deluxe insert for Father's Day this year, and the wife ("and kids" she says) surprised me with a Sn'S grill w/insert! I gave my Weber, in great condition, to a propane friend I intend to convert. So Weber, hopefully, has a new customer and I'm an Sn'S guy from now on. Beef Back ribs for dinner tonight! Both look like fine grills but I also lean towards the SnS. I share your dislike of the method of attaching the ash bucket. I find it very difficult and frustrating, especially if you don't want to get down on all fours to be able to see what you are doings and align everything. I finally found an easier way to reattach the bucket. After I have cleaned the inside and while are the parts are out, I gently tip the Weber over onto the 2 wheels and the lid catcher. I can then see and more easily attach the bucket.

Good video. But with the Weber, even if you don't have the Slow-n-Sear (I do), people still stack the coals against one side for indirect cooking, and you're right back to rendering either the vent, or the temp gauge useless. My observation just in looking at them is that the height of the lid on the Weber creates a larger dome? Maybe more room for a turkey etc?

Great video Tom! I am a fan of SNS and love the improvements SNS has! Same reason I got my Kamado Joe over the Big Green Egg years ago. KJ made improvements to your cooking experience! Just like SNS! Cheers!

I’ve had a Weber for 16 years out in the elements and still use it. I’ve replaced some parts, easy to get,the s&s,I don’t know. I do like the s&s design better than the Weber but parts are so easy to get for the Weber. Local hardware store has many accessories for Weber none for s&s. I just don’t know what my new kettle will be

I just bought a premium and have the hold for igrill and thought the same thing no hole for probe, such a pity. Wish weber would just move temp gauge, one other thing if you have a weber side table, no where to put it because if handle on one side and hinge, lid on other side, going to be a bit of juggling around to ash basket to get it to for :( also ash catcher basket in and is under handle, not in ever

I would choose the SNS grill because I enjoy both grilling and smoking and I already own a SNS 2.0 setup. Weber has really laid the way for the SNS folks, but the SNS grill is superior. Both are made from "globally sourced" parts, but only the SNS grill is designed with features that allow versatility.

Last year's Mastertouch had the same closed-smoke-open setting on the basket. I have last year's model. I do hope that Weber will eventually offer the smoke briquette basket and heat deflector for other Weber kettle owners since there is nothing keeping those devices being used in older kettles. You shouldn't have to buy a new grill for those features, especially if Weber is trying to compete against the Slow & Sear accessory.

Good video. But you should have compared like items; the SNS and the Peeformer. Both are more similar and the same price. The gap widens, agree?

I like both of them but would favor the Weber because I know they will be around to backup the warranty. That said, my ideal grill would be a 26 inch Performer.

The 26” is cool! Thanks for watching!

@Harry Warren Agreed! I love my 22” Performer, but I wish it had more real estate. A 26” Performer would fit the bill.

I do not like the lid with the hinge because I know I would burn myself on it. The vent and thermometer on a kettle grill is the most important parts . So I would go with the SNS grill 👍🏻

You wanted to know which one I'd buy.......... Hell I already modded my Weber Kettle with everything the SNS did, Except the 4th leg of course. Took out the worthless Weber gauge and added a vent, added a true temp. Hinge by unknown, added a Ultra Q hole,WSM charcoal ring, 20" pizza pan, rotisserie ring, should have went with Cajun bandit ring but wth. Probe port. Bbq dragon shelf, And finally got the SNS. She's all black and her name is Betty. So I'm keeping her.

Thanks for watching! Love all the mods! Thats a tricked out Kettle! Thanks for sharing!

I got my 22" Master-Touch a couple of months ago. I'm glad it doesn't come with that hinge. I use the Weber char-baskets all the time. The SNS grill looks sweet. I would settle for either.

I'd choose the SnS kettle for the much easier to remove ash basket (I hate how hard it is to remove the one on the Weber), shelf, probe port, smoke hole, and temp probe being where you put your meat (instead of over the coals in the Weber, which is useless), but I have an SnS Kamado and a Weber kettle already so I can't justify the purchase.

I have the SNS Kettle and love it so far, although I am a little concerned that mine was as stable as yours at first, but now it's developed that same shake that your Weber has. Something to keep an eye on.

How’s the kettle holding up?!
@chadbarrett73813 жыл бұрын
@@HbkRick So far so good! It still has that shake I mentioned, seems to be a little looseness where the legs fit into their ports at the base of the kettle. Otherwise it's a good workhorse paired with the slow n sear. Can smoke a single pork butt or two racks of ribs (using the raised up cooking grate SNS sells).

I’ve been drooling over a Master Touch for months but haven’t pulled the trigger. I noticed in the video there’s A hinge on the lid but all websites I’ve seen, even on Weber’s site, there isn’t a hinge on the lid. Ideas?

Tom I need your expertise please! I am about to mount a temp gauge on my Weber Jumbo Joe and trying to decide where to put it. I see so many different opinions. I see that the SnS grill in this video has the temp gauge right below the vent. And Weber always mounts theirs opposite the vent. It seems more logical for indirect cooking where the coals are on one side (which is how I do it) that the gauge should be near the vent and opposite the coals. Do you have any opinion? Thanks! Edit: Oh shoot, I didn't get far enough into the video where you talk about this before I asked this question, sorry. Think I'm gonna mount mine right below the vent.

Regarding legs, price, & other things. To be apples to apples.... shouldn’t the SNE be compared to the basic performer not the MSP?

I don't think SnS are available in the UK as far as i know but if anyone knows different please let me know. Personally my modified 22" WSM can do all the stuff these models can so i won't need to fork out for any of them. If i was in the market for a kettle i would also consider the Napoleon PRO Charcoal Kettle BBQ - 57 cm - PRO22K-LEG-2
