I'm attempting to build the Ultimate Indoor Mini RC Crawler Course, it's 4 seasons, so you could say it takes a full Year to get around haha. Part one has taken me 3 months on and off.

Thanks for showing the build process. I've seen a few of these on a FB group and I couldn't quite wrap my brain around how to accomplish the transition from a pile of boxes and shipping material to a plastered course. Inspired me to work on my own course. Cheers!

Check out Hydroponic Clay Pebbles (they come in all shapes looking like rocks or boulders),also you could mix the sand with plasterers plaster for a good type of building aggregate and you could also add cement dye to it for different colours..hope that helps..the Hydro pebbles are what you are thinking of tho I'm sure.

I used spray truck bed liner on the smooth surfaces before painting and it created an awesome texture. Just enough grip and it looks pretty natural too.

Once again, wish I was in the UK, I run a wood shop and have all kinds of offcuts that are perfect for building crawler courses. When I was building mine I dug through the recycling bin for big chunks of styro that I could carve.

@@TomleyRC I guess we had no choice back then. Necessity is the mother of invention as they say. I follow your stuff and enjoy the modern and the old school/vintage equally. If it's not broke don't fix it is fine but if it's not broke but it can be better .. well bring it on. You are doing great and making quite a name for yourself. Keep on keeping on and never be afraid to go outside the lines.

This looks great man. Lots of work and trial and error in this. My only question is will you have a jump ramp into the bean pit? 😁 I've been meaning to build my 24th scale course for months now. I bought a trio of steel cabinets for my garage that came packed / protected in 1"/25mm thick cardboard sheets. I was going to take a jigsaw to them to make terrain shapes like a topography map and cover that with some burlap or that plaster mesh. Hoping any finished product to be portable for easy storage or use. Convenience and quick access is the best way to make use of something like that if it can't be left set up (at least in my opinion).

It's a process....soon as you think you're done, you will want to add or change it up......another tip: hot melt glue gun.....for that area that you sprayed all the foam underneath the mountain, some vertical pieces of cardboard would support that whole thing.
