hi Tom , i think the lampost on the narrow guage looks ok mate . Also , you've inspired me to investigate the plug and go', woodland scenics lighting , looks very simple compared to the nightmare of soldering etc..cheers

Hi yeah I spend ages doing the lights on the main station with soldering resistors and junction boxes and these lights even though more expensive are so much easier to fit and if there's a problem with one they can just be unplugged and replaced with a new one, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. Really nice to have a tour around somebody else's layout especially when it includes double-headed Cromptons! 👍 So much to see too... 😎 Brings back memories of my attic layout - had a portable aircon unit up there which vented out tthrough the eaves. _It made a huge difference!_ ❄❄

Hi glad you like the layout, I will definitely consider an air-conditioning unit in the future as am hoping to extend into the other side of the loft eventually, I do like the heljan cromptons, really nice models, thanks for watching. Tom

@@northwesttrainsmodels Tom, lest it be of interest I lined my attic with 50mm Celotex snugly fitted between each rafter using tile battening screwed to the rafters to ensure an airgap under the felt (can provide more details if you want) with the whole covered internally with (painted) plywood. The aircon unit pumped it's air into this airgap, thence down and out through a grill cut into the eave's soffit board. In the end only one aircon unit proved necessary with the loft being cool even mid-summer. I hope this helps - Colin. _PS - Heljan Cromptons are nice - decades ago undertook so many miles in the real thing!_

Hi Colin ill definitely be interested in which air con unit you used, i did put 1 inch insulation leaving a 1 inch gap by the felt so i might do what you've done and fit a batton to give me more room for a thicker celtotex board

@@northwesttrainsmodels Tom, the portable aircon units were domestic /office units and purchased at an end of a summer clearance sale (8000BTUu DeLongi NF170 - some fifteen or more years on both are still operational). Each came with the usual outlet hose and a wall socket (4” flange cap) into which the hose could be plugged - a hole was cut through the plywood /Celotex into the 50mm void between Celotex /roofing felt and the sockets fitted. External vents were then cut up into the eave’s soffit in line with the wall air-outlet sockets. Hope this assists - Colin

I have two updates to share with you. Number 1: I asked Rails of Sheffield to cancel my pre-order of Dapol Foxcote Manor, because the factory team are taking way too long to release the model. The cancellation was done. I went with Plan B, which was quicker. I bought a new model of Hinton Manor, and then bought Foxcote Manor name and numberplates from Silver Tay Models, ebay. I now have Dapol Foxcote Manor my own way. Number 2: I've taken my first nerve-racking step forward with tiny N Gauge. I bought the track controller, pieces of curved and straight track, plus a GWR Toad Van and GWR Large Prairie Tank Engine from Cheltenham Model Centre online and ebay. My friend Alfie sent four N Gauge trucks (open wagons and closed vans) to me, through the post. The controller and track are set up. The engine and goods train are in a small cardboard box, at the bottom of my wardrobe. The first test run won't be seen till November. I'm nervous about handling the models.

Glad you finally got your foxcote manor am still waiting for a new pony truck for my dapol Prairie from 3 years ago, you'll be fine with n gauge most locos aren't as delicate as they look, you'll be able to run longer trains to

@@northwesttrainsmodels The N Gauge track is a small and simple oval. There's only room for one tank engine and a short goods train.

My grandson enjoyed seeing the 009 update. He's been working on his this weekend and has uploaded part 2 of his build onto his Dylington Model Railway channel yesterday. He's been trying to work out if you could get another set of on points to split it into 3 tracks, two into the engine shed and one down the side of the water tank 🙄 honestly he's getting obsessed with trying to add extra track and more points. Since he filmed his video, he's come up with more ideas for his, which will mean lifting some of the track. Oh, he's impressed you've used track screws like he has. ..cheers James 🙂👍

Hi James I now how he feels I keep thinking can I add more here and there and have new ideas all the time but you end up getting nothing done, am happy with the 2 longer sidings I did toy with having a 3rd behind the water tower but it looked to tight, the track screws are great if your worried about seeing them u can unscrew them once the tracks glued down and re use them, I don't mind them to be honest so I just leave them in, I'll Check out your new update video, happy modelling. Nice update. Its all coming together well. Great work. Personally I wouldn't worry about the lamp on the 009 station looking too big. The whole scale is a bit distorted right? As long as you are consistent with what you install I'd say go for it. Your call though. 👍 Happy Modelling

In the real world lamps come in standard size so if your lamp is 00 or H0 scale then don't worry about how it looks in comparison to the trains because by nature the real narrow gauge trains probably look small to the real world lamps. In other words don't sweat it.
