Thank you. My son is a janitor. He's legally blind, but he doesn't want to go on disability. He doesn't tell anyone, just does his job. He's respected, because he works hard, but being a janitor, isn't a glamorous job. He's my hero.

I'm a long haul trucker. I see public restrooms all the time. No one says anything when they're clean - but bitch to the moon if they aren't. I try to thank every janitor I see for doing a thankless job; surprising to see how it lifts their face and spirit! Thank your son for me. He's a hero, too..

Janitors are heroes to me. I definitely notice at my job when we don't have one or it's his day off. Public restrooms can get pretty disgusting, and I've cleaned quite a few myself in jobs where there wasn't a janitor. It's always so nice to be able to use the restroom without having to worry about brushing up against some mess on the door or the floor etc that should have been in the trash can or flushed down the toilet. Not to mention all the trash that has to be emptied every day, cleaning the breakroom, making sure there's not nasty old food in the fridge etc. Janitors make everyone's life so much more pleasant. God bless you and your son.

@@TexJester-no8th Thank you for all you do! The pandemic made a lot of us realize how we've been taking you all for granted. We depend on truckers for so many things that we literally can't survive without. You endure long hours and long stretches away from your families. And thank you for taking the time to appreciate janitors. They really do make things a lot better for the rest of us. And you're so right about how a little appreciation can brighten someone's day.

I wanted to say thank you for this song, Mr. Macdonald. I was in a near fatal car accident back in 2015 & a firefighter EMT saved me & pulled me the sunroof. Then handed me off to the medical EMTs & I was in a coma for a month. Doctors, nurses & certified nurse assistants care for me & kept me alive. Also had a cop help escorted the EMTs to a different hospital. I will always support the first responders, I am still alive & safe because of them. Thank you, to the first responders out there & to the fire fighter who got to me just in time.

Anyone that look down on others are the one beneath the others. Maybe they have more money then you, but the fact that they look down on you prove that they are lower in the brain department. No good peoples look down on others, because anyone with a good brain know that any jobs no matter how useless it may seem at first glance is important in some shape or form, if it was not, those job would not exist in the first place, since no one would want to spend money for job that is of not use."

My mom used to drive the school bus for the handicapped and special education students in the county school. I used to ride her bus to school if I wanted to sleep late, because the high school I attended was right across from the Middle School where the handicapped and special education students had their own school, a separate building from the Middle School, but on the same campus. She’d drop her students off at their school on the Middle School campus, and then take me across the road and let me off at the High School. I remember being picked on by some of my school mates hanging around outside the High School before the bell rang to head to your home room class. They were just joking around, of course, not trying to be mean, but still saying something about me riding the “short bus”. That was almost 40 years ago, and I still remember those children on mom’s bus, and how sweet and loving they were. One girl was in a wheelchair, and couldn’t speak, but she could understand everything you said to her. Her parents dressed her so pretty every day, and she would just grin from ear to ear when you told her how pretty she was. She had been left handicapped because of a school bus accident when she was younger, I believe. I remember one girl who was so funny because she called everyone “fart head”, and she would laugh so hard. That was my mom’s favorite bus route. She later took a bus route driving for the students in the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, because I think the special needs school on the Middle School campus was torn down, and and those students were relocated. It was a long time ago, and my memory isn’t as sharp as it once was. But I am thankful that I got to spend some time with those students, because they made a lasting impression on me, and I have a special affection towards people like them, because they are precious. It’s why I believe that all human life has tremendous value, and it should not matter if a babe in the womb has what this world calls a “defect” when it comes to them being “worthy” of life. All human life is important to God, made in His image, and that alone makes every human life “worthy” of being born. It’s not for us to decide which human life has value, and which doesn’t, and to even think that we should have that power to decide the value of another human life, or when it should end, is man trying to usurp God’s authority, and it’s wrong.

Washing his laundry separately even though I say it's ok to do it together, he says it's too gross. Dealing with welders tan being his only tan. Shop is hot as hell or cold depending on the seasons. If it gives you some hope, a few of my daughter's friends were taking college welding classes during their senior year, and even sending her pics to ask for his advice. There's still hope and young people who can step in when others can retire.

For 10 years I was an EMT and trauma tech in an ER. I was then sidetracked in the tech world for many years before I "retired" and started my present job as a job coach for adults with intellectual disabilities. Coaches go to their jobs with our clients giving them the opportunity to contribute and live somewhat independent lives with dignity. These are the people you may see at your grocery store, fast food restaurant, or school cafeteria. Those I have worked with in these service fields both EMS and vocational rehabilitation really are the (previously) unsung heroes, whom I admire greatly.

Thank you, Tom. Two war disabled veteran here. I made it thru my first tour in one piece, But not the second. Tho you wouldn't guess my struggles by my appearance. I'd do it again if i could. The people you highlight in this song are the TRUE HEROES tho. Yeah, sure, i was in the military. Great. But if it weren't for the people who help me in the stores, build the roads i drive on, and save my life during emergencies, (to name too few) I wouldn't still be here. They are shocked, when they learn this younger guy is a disabled vet. And, after they say "Thank you for your service." (whether they agreed with the war or not) and i REPLY "No, thank you for making my life after the war possible." they are not sure what to say. They didn't think about their contribution. What's funny is i didn't think about mine either. I knew, like they do, there's a job that needs done and it gets done. I'm grateful for everyday people. DESPITE our differences. Without them i could not exist. They truly are HEROES.

The whimsical and irresponsible nature of society going back and forth between treating us like villians, to heroes, back to villians again takes a toll over time, especially anyone who has a remotely caring heart. I work with IBEW Distribution and Transmission Linemen. Men I respect as much as I respect my father. Blue collar workers, trades people are what keeps this nation keep going. Any blue collar worker deserves extra doses of respect for their contributions to society. Working alongside Linemen, and my contribution is something I am so very passionate about. I work a lot of hours. When the lights are out, I'm right there helping get those men to those locations. My kids have lost a lot of time with me. As a mother that is extremely hard. But what makes it better is coming home and having your youngest tell you about their school day and it was about what their parents do and she chose to speak about me, "my mom helps people get their lights back". To some, what I do may be nothing. But without the blue collar and their support systems at work and at home, this county would be on its knees. Thank you to every single one of you out there doing your part - no matter how unglamorous. I'd much rather have a man with dirt under his nails and calloused hands over a 3-piece suit any day of the week. Stag safe in your endeavors and may life give you everything you deserve 10-fold. ❤

Tom thank you for this song. Brought me to tears to hear this song. Tears of joy to see someone thanking the hero’s that no one ever sees but if they were not there you and I both would not have food on the shelves or have clean floors to walk on. Just imagine if someone was not cleaning the floors of your grocery store. I also want to take all the farmers that produce the food we eat. I am from a small town of 200 people. And that is what I grew up knowing. I would love to do a remix with a verse about farmers in it. But you got so many good ones for sure. Thank you Tom for all this amazing song. Navy Vet and former firefighter here. I've gotten praise and flak for being both, but to those who gave me flak over the years for doing a thankless job, just remember your freedom is protected by people who aren't looking for praise or a thank you and could care less what you think of them. We do it for our families, our friends, and most often a higher ideal that you will never understand. I personally did because I believe a person has a responsibility to protect our freedom and our communities when things go sideways, be it a conflict with another nation or a fire that starts while you are asleep. What holds a community together are all the people doing those thankless jobs, the tasks most people would never dream of doing, and doing it because it has to be done by someone. Everything in our lives that is cushy or convenient is produced and maintained by people not looking for a thank you but are doing it because they have to or they need to, never forget that and never think the world owes you something. The problem with the world today is people are never grateful for what they have and simply keep demanding more. Thanks for the song Tom, Love your music. 🤟👏
