Tommy Emmanuel - I saw him as opener for Robben Ford in Rome in the 90's. I didn't know him, but he steals the show. A wizard on the stage - producing sounds on the acoustic guitar, which I didn't know it's able. I see him always on this little stages. He should fill the big arenas - for he is probably the greatest living guitar player on earth (probably in the universe). I don't know him personally, but he has the air of being friendly, modest and politely. And he is funny. So many reasons to love and adore him!

You may have felt you were struggling back in the 70's but by the early 80's it looked like you were flying Tommy, not bloody struggling, even then you were an astonishing musician. I was lucky enough to be present & saw your late great guitar-monster brother Phil & yourself just as monsterly - both playing together on the Riverstage at Parramatta one afternoon in the early 80's * I was the long curly haired precocious young curmudgeon with Perthes disease levitating in rapture seeing & hearing you both just make your guitars talk 100 languages... Hearing 'Long Way to the Top' on Countdown, Malcolm Young's brain-crushing A power-chord blew my 8 or 9yo mind, all I wanted to do was make the same sound my hero Mal was making? I begged bothered badgered did chores was most helpful polite & compliant for my 10th birthday a guitar was all I wanted. My single-parent mother was a petro-chemical engineer at Shell, Rosehill, divorced beloved dad a textile mechanic hardly poor but working class to middle at best.. imagine the cartwheels & joy when a Maton CW80/12 appeared on 6/6/1979. It wasn't long til I worked out this wasn't a cheap instrument by any means & felt obliged even to learn to play properly cos it must have cost a 💣bomb? I was spoiled rotten really? Straight into with guidance from elder teen neighbour mates who could play anything & any instrument both of 'em, they saw my ability desire & constantly had the Maton with me so helped me help myself using the drop-the-needle method and the ▶⏹⏪⏹▶method as we did - Mel 'Who?' Books yeah nah, and tab was ALWAYS wrong too back then. 'Abbey Road' 'Paranoid' 'War of the Worlds' 'Led Zepp IV' 'Dark Side..' 'Best of Cream' just to name a few LP's that were permanently on the turntable & I couldn't take them off until I'd learned them.. it's a disease that becomes a way of life music is. Basically I bet you've inspired possibly thousands to learn music an instrument & guitarist worldwide will forever sing your praises - and if it wasn't for my absolute idolised hero Malcolm Young R.I.P & yourself Tommy & Phil I may never have started my guitarsenal let alone learned to play nor caught the 'bug' like I did - I will never forget my wonder at seeing you brothers just totally kill it onstage. You were NOT struggling then on guitar, now to the power of 100 less so. I salute you Tommy, I adored you then as much as your brother Phil - man Phil could really play like hell - just sh*t-hot. Malcolm Young will be my hero forever. This is not negotiable for me! But it was seeing Phil & you Tommy, at Parramatta on complete FIRE in the early 80's that kept me from quitting & really getting serious about music & guitar, it was beyond inspirational to a 12 or 13yo thinking of quitting music as 'all too hard'. I was mentally-guitarded from that day til now & far too much guitar is nowhere near enough, you know it makes sense?. Peace respect & beautiful rendition of 'Blue Moon' as always - virtuoso maestro bravo! 🦘Didyabringyabongalong Station🎸Buderim🤘QLD🪃 P.S. Mr. Kevin Borich if you read this get out please asafp? & do more shows 'round the Sunshine Coast cos it's fair-dinkum too flamin' quiet...
