If there are high surface finish requirements when edge bending/press brake, the Swedish product Tribotextil™ can be applied in the bending/pressing tool and mechanically protect the sheet metal from scratches and other damages. Tribotextil™ is an extremely thin and very strong textile that in this process replaces lubricants in the tool.

Watched your tour with Abom today. A couple of suggestions for you. On your sick 4’ press, simply send the hydraulic pump in for repair. A shop like Tri-State Hydraulics will restore it to new very economically. Your dual voltage three phase motor: there is an old book titled Electrical Motors and controls which has an entire chapter on remarking unmarked leads on these motors. Also a good rewinding shop would be able to accomplish this for you as well.

Nice work! Can you do a video on centering the upper and lower die to each other? We’ve struggled with repeatability on this… is there a tool? Custom fixture with dial indicator? Would like your opinion, thanks!

I replied on Facebook but figured I’d reply here as well in case someone else sees it. But if you adjust the slow sleep approach slider on the right hand side of the machine so that it bottoms out before going into bending mode, it will not apply full pressure to the tooling and you can just self center the lower with the upper punch and then clamp it in place

This is awesome! any advise running 600v machines when only power available is 220 single phase?

This is a 220 3 phase machine so I’m just running an American rotary ADX 10 on here to make the 3rd leg of 220 3 phase.

is there a way to control how much preassure you put in each bend ? or is it determined by the machine when you buy it ?

Great video! Thanks for the overview. I understand that these machines take a long time to adjust the die height for multiple bends in the same program. Can you estimate, or maybe give an example of how long this takes? If bend A is 30 degrees, and bend B is 60 degrees, as an example, how long is the wait for the adjustment to happen?

Thanks man! I will have to try and explain it better, I thought I went into it a little in one of the current videos. But it has a mechanical stop physically inside of each cylinder. The cylinders have a shaft running between them up top that a motor is connected to. It spins a worm gear that spins a shaft inside the cylinders to adjust that mechanical stop. So the cylinders physically bottom out on that stopping point every time you hit the down pedal and that is what needs to adjust for your different angles. Some companies toss a high speed servo on machines that are meant to slow speed adjust and I have seen them wipe out the worm gears from moving to fast. So when you see other machines at a similar price point for “faster adjustments” be weary that it’s probably for a reason that the price isn’t like $8000 more than these units. Because that is what the proper high speed adjustment takes. You can special order a brake with that setup from Tommy if you desire the angle change to be faster. It will come with a Delem controller, high speed servos and gears rated for that higher speed. Not just a servo slapped on top of low speed unpolished worm gears.

@@adamdeuling5720 Thanks for the detailed response. I really appreciate it. I'll run through your videos again to see if I missed the explanation. I know this higher speed change is a price adder for next level up machines from competitors and that the Tommy is price competitive for the features it has. Maybe I'll look you up next time I'm headed toward the dunes!

Why? I’ve bent 4’ of 3/16 mild steel with it with a 1.25” lower V. Does everything I need for my small prototype business. I don’t do much over 1/4” and usually bend 1/8” or under for most components.
