PTFE is redundant when using a compression olive. PTFE was also applied in wrong direction - it should be wound in the same direction as the thread (clockwise from the nut side).

I am trying to figure out why ptfe was put on the compression fitting threads. the seal is made by the brass olive. there should be no water anywhere near the threads, if there is the olive has failed and should be replaced.

Yes, always wrap the PTFE tape in a CLOCKWISE direction on your 'freds'!

Should I use a corner valves if I want the valve knobs to go parallel with the radiator?

I have a direct system and it will not do anything if the pressure goes below about 1 bar which it will obviously do if you drain it down enough to disconnect. You have to open the venting (bleed) valve while you drain off.

The radiator that we need to hang hasn't got any holes for it to attach to the pipes coming out of the wall. The holes are at the bottom. Can a different fitting be bought and if so how would we describe it please? Sorry that this is so basic but we are knew to DIY.

Why would you need a hammer drill for breeze block or tiles?

I don't think it was a 15mm diamond hole saw. the 15mm pipe that was coming through those holes had 2-3mm clearance, so maybe a 20mm diamond hole saw? Nice vid btw, just a few really bad errors though (like the ptfe on the valve threads and every bit of ptfe that was put on was done in the wrong direction)
