Many times I've always said that having a father as a musician was no different than any other kid's parents. But instead of a hammer, saw, and screwdrivers, he filled his trunk with a Classical Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Telecaster, Amp, 12 string, Gibson electric, and anything else he could fit in. These were his tools of the trade.

Watching him perform those solo lines so perfectly and effortlessly you just know his talent was on another level. His speed, accuracy, note choice....it just flows from him through the instrument. That level of coordination is available to only a precious few human beings. Tommy was a very, very special player.

It's amazing that Tommy actually uses a banjo here (he could make a guitar sound like anything else).

Just watched Wrecking Crew. Thank you for putting that out. I remember reading Tommy's columns in guitar magazines back in the day. Great stuff.

I used Tommy's banjo tuning trick in the late 70s in my high school pit band for Hello Dolly. My guitar teacher thought it was cheating 😂. I thought it was ingenious.

He could've gotten a Banjitar, & also a Mando-Guitar 12 this way he could get a Banjo or Mandolin sound with a variantion of that instrument tuned like a Guitar (E-E).

Haha, I always say that's Chicago tuning, works great on plectrum banjo (22 fret). I've been laughing all the way to the bank, without an amp in the car, I walk in like a trumpet player with one case.

Most recorded guitarist in history; today is his quarter century reincarnation anniversary. By the way John Lennon's first instrument was a banjo; his mother's which he tuned like a guitar.

On the one hand, Tedesco was very funny and very entertaining. On the other hand, in videos like this he's boring and annoying. Because he seems to think that being a famous clown is very important. It's a boring act and having to always demonstrate this funny stuff is expected of him, because people know about it. I'm much more interested in when he really gets serious and shows us what a fantastic and amazing guitar player he really was. The clown act is totally irrelevant. If you have listened to his recordings you'll know what I mean.
