Thank you for sharing this. It's just as funny and quotable as I remembered.

Haven't seen this in years. Thanks for posting! It's a 1979 short film by Anne Polan titled "Hollywood Boulevard" His fairy godmother is dancer Marge Champion, who appeared in many old musicals with husband Gower Champion.

Marge Champion also famously modeled for Walt Disney's animators , performing as Snow White . (she was only 17 at the time) They shot live action film of her acting out scenes and dancing as Snow White so they could use the film as reference for animating the character (at that time no one had successfully animated a semi-realistic human figure). She also modeled for the Blue Fairy in Disney's Pinocchio . She was briefly married to one of Walt Disney's top animators, Art Babbitt.

Thanks for posting this. I fondly remember this when I was in high school and saw it multiple times on HBO about 1980. I sometimes sing the song and even my most hardcore theater friends don’t remember it.

The song "Oh, To Be A Movie Star" was originally sung by Barbara Harris in the musical "The Apple Tree" by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick .

My goodness...me too! And I knew the guy was Tommy Tune, but the woman's name eluded me for decades till, of all places, I came across it while reading Jim Boston's 'Ball Four'. After he finally gave up baseball, he and his wife took up competitive Ballroom Dancing, and one of their partners was...Marge Champion! Gears in the memory clicked and a couple of judicious Google searches later, here we are. I wish it was a better print, but, I mean, forty plus years later!
