Tommy Wright was a student of mine in High School. I was a 28 yr old school rapping teacher. I defeated him in freestyle. We became friends. I remember when he told me about his rap ambitions. He came to me to do the photography for his first album. We shot pictures at Whitehaven Mall area. This was in 1992. I was a substitute teacher whom they called "Mr.T". Tommy Wright is considered a Memphis pioneer Rapper. I am proud of his accomplishment. He worked hard. He earned everything he got through grit and grinding.

Yeah like no joke it's actually really insane. These guys were doing styles, beats and flows in the early 90s which only truly became popular like 2 decades later. They influenced even other country's rap style and other genres. Yet when people talk about the history of HipHop/Rap, it's almost never mentioned. The beats they use alone is absolutely crazy and just oldschool, simple yet so good, self made with simple machines, at the time where stuff like G-Funk was already going wild. These Memphis guys are true OGs. I cannot describe the appreciation I have for their music. Idk what was going on in Memphis during that time but the place really gave us some sick Hip Hop
