Being an automotive technician I would reccomend once u realize u have a flat to FIRST fill your tire to atleast 40psi.(if you have a portable air pump) few reasons why in a real world situation u are not going to want to find the leak by driving on a flat damaging ur rim or breaking the bead of the rim. It's very difficult but possible to plug a tire that has no air but while applying force the rubber tire will fold inwards and bend making it difficult to plug. Just add air to tire first, then pull out what ever is making ur tire leak. plug and fill to your doors placard reccomended PSI.

I carry similar patch kit. Got it from local store. I found some random pump. We have a plug in the trunk on drivers side for power adaptor. Also when fixing flat, if there's still air in them. Take all air out before you patch it. This is just temp fix. But pretty neat to get you back on the road. And get to near tire shop so they can put a plug from the inside. I approve this. Cheers

having this repair kit & a jack does provide peace of mind. However, the most important safety tip is getting your vehicle off the road to a safe area to protect yourself & passengers. A flat can happen anywhere & anytime. Got a flat on an interstate a few years ago w/ my children in the vehicle. Didn't even cross my mind to fix it. Pulled over to the shoulder, flashers on, set up a reflector 50' - 60' behind the vehicle, called 911 to inform state police w/ mileage marker & location then called my insurance company for a tow. And yes, I've seen people replacing flat tires in the most dangerous places.

This is a great video, and the repair kit is certainly very clever, unfortunately though just like tyre repair kits containing a bottle of sealant, it does have its limitations, if the punctured tyre has a large hole or cut in it, it renders this method ineffective, I don’t think there is any substitute for a spare wheel, that works in all situations irregardless of how damaged the tyre is.

Of course if your tire is seriously damaged (a side wall tear for example) this repair kit would be as useful as a child's magic wand. I would not buy a vehicle without a spare and the only reason many people buy cars without spares is that they are clueless about things in general. Even a donut spare would be infinitely more useful than no spare at all. Good luck everybody!

If you are going the power tool route, consider having a half inch drive electric impact drill with the right size socket, and perhaps a small extension bar. The tire wrench supplied will be a pain if you need to take the tire off. If the wheel lug nuts are torqued to spec, many drivers will not be able to use them. The alternative is a hollow pipe slid on top the car wrench so that it becomes a "breaker bar". That said, an impact wrench is a much better solution. Another is one of those 4-way X wheel nut lug wrenches. they are cheap at under well under US $20, and you have much better leverage. Add a 32 pound hammer, and you are good to go. The main challenge when you have to remove a flat tire is getting an even flat, hard surface. Cars with low ground clearance can make it hard to both take the tire off, or fix the flat with the wheel on. For both methods you need some strength, so those of slight build, low fitness or advanced age could find the process a challenge. So if you have the option, call an auto club.

I assume that I can use the tier inflater pump that came with my Toyota Corolla hybrid to pump up the tire, without using that sealant gunk once I put the plug in the tire. Also, I could buy a jack to lift the tire off the ground and then rotate it to expose the nail, screw, or whatever caused the puncture. How long is a home done plug fix good for? I assume it would still be a good idea to have a tire repair shop look at it as soon as possible to make sure the result will remain safe. OTOH Flats caused by punctures are probably the issue in well over half the cases (I'm guessing 60-90%). However, blow outs, wheel damage and huge cuts in the tire due to road hazards are NOT repairable and a spare tire will be the ONLY way to get you on the road again. If you keep an eye on your tire condition, and replace tires long before they wear out you can avoid most blowouts, but you can still suffer a major tire/wheel failure if you drive over major road debris. Off roaders should NEVER go without a spare!!.

40 psi? that seems like alot of pressure. i usually put 33 on my tires for better comfort. That actually happened to my m3, i was too scared to do it my self but the tire shop had to take the tire off and do two patches on each side, the inner side they put a small rubber cap on it so it would never leak. I paid 20 bucks, i was kinda skeptical on taking my m3 to a shop i never went, but it was that or a new tire $$. They actually did better than the 1st shop i went when i got all my tires replaced, and it was a bmw certified shop. 1. Fill tire with air to full. 2. Find leak. 3. Plug the leaking hole while tire is almost full of air, this makes it very easy to plug it. 4. Refill tire with air to the psi specs. 5. Start drifting! 😎

Hit a pothole this video is useless. Just have a real spare tire, don't get cheap. Ive had a few flats with a land-rover and they will destroy a tire so that trick will not work. I have a kit like that but never used it as the tires were too messed up. Its a nice thought for a video and in some rare circumstances. There is no substitute for a real spare.

pot hole blow out (which given the state of UK roads is most common) is not solvable roadside. The cheapskate car manufacturers need to revisit the real world. Why do we need to rely on roadside recovery to get home. Put a spare in the bloody car when it's new!

maybe not where you live and your advice is great but I can assure you, living in the sticks in rural UK, a hole in your tyre is 90% going to be a pot hole which no amount of spray gunk is going to help. I've been stuck waiting for recovery services now too many times not to believe that car manufacture is out of step with the majority of road users. But hey ho. Good video none the less

I'm calling B.S. Doesn't work on sidewalls. Potholes can and will destroy the sidewall. There is no substitute for a spare tire. You WILL be stranded. Run flats included if you're more than 50 miles from help. Tow companies charge $400 plus for an after hour tow. There's zero "peace of mind" in what this video claims after it happens to you.
