What I really like here is that you are taking the elements of guitar--triads, pentatonics, etc--and turning them into MUSIC. It's that magical moment that most teachers miss, in my opinion. But here you show the moment of transmution from kindling wood into fire. Please do more of this!

I hope everyone understands the sweetness of the melody depends upon the relationship to the chords, obviously Tomo gets this but it's the most critical thing to consider.Curtis Mayfield wrote this masterpiece 56 years ago and developed these melodies in direct relationship to the chord progression. They go together like a hand in a glove, thank you Tomo for giving us this gift of knowledge and congratulations on your album.

You just helped me so much. I mean, sometimes you know a lot but just can't figure out how to blend things together and play efficiently. Sure a lot of teachers teach the same things, but all it takes is one person to explain something in a way that creates that spark in someone's head where it all makes sense. Which is why I follow so many KZfaq teachers. You sir, just blew my mind. Thank you

Your reservation over mechanical memorisation or automation of ‘shape’ is crucial. It is is such ‘memorisation’ which caused people to be stucked in cliches and mechanical licks for decades. You do not teach cold printed ‘recipes’ for cooking but actual education of ‘taste buds’ for relishing favours. You do not teach diagrams for sound but sounds themselves. Thank you so much, love your videos!

@@TomoFujitaMusic yes I note that as significant feature of your method. You do not reduced sound to diagram or ‘shape on paper’ but stubbornly retains students immersed in sound itself and educate the ears or hearing. I really find this most enlightening!

Thank you, Mr. Fujita! This video gave me a breakthrough in my understanding of the fretboard. Moving my way from one note to another is like making my way across the city which has many one-way streets. The pentatonic scales are templates that I can dance away and back on to, as long as I touch the important intersections as I go toward my goal. I get to decide which ones are important as long as I return to the template enough to give the listeners that sense of resolution and let them ride with me where I'm going.- J //PS, "Blue Sky" is nuanced and inspirational. Wow!

I love your playing and how you know just when to hit the right notes. I think that is one reason your pentatonic idea is so great. If you can just pick those rights notes in one position, you can focus more on the melody than shifting. Brilliant! Thanks for the great ideas.

Tomo, you asked us to tell you what we thought and it's the least I could do since you've been my favorite online teacher since I found you! I thought it was beautiful, you're cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic. Covers I think subject you to criticism from the die hard fans of the original, don't you agree? As you said you're not the first one to cover that song. I love you're version, it's a spiritual song and you have such a kind and generous spirit it really suits you. I won't say your style because you play in so many styles, and adapt to the feel of the style of song as well as anyone I've seen. You're enthusiasm and love for the instrument shines through so bright in your videos, I think I'm fortunate to have found you, it's like finding a needle in a haystack with so much content but you're my favorite, hands down. I'm just getting whatever chops I have back after not playing for 10 years, not routinely because of how life happens and we make choices. I took care of my mother for 15 years and I was by myself in doing it, I couldn't find time to play routinely. Then she passed away and I myself had health problems and I'm now in a nursing home with Emphasema and I had a back surgery. It's difficult to play from bed cause I'm not upright. When I can get to sit in a chair everyday (which I hope is soon!) I'm going to have the posture I need to play without restrictions. I bought a Fender Squier Affinity SSS and a Fender Mustang Lt25 modeling amp for my birthday in September and it needs a set-up, so when those things change I'll be able to start to improve. I'm trying to absorb as much as I can like a sponge, and when I can implement it practically, get into a practice routine with my guitar set-up finally I know I've learned alot already, and I'll be able to squeeze the sponge and new things will be pouring out of it from watching your videos. I may sign up for my guitar wisdom. I have the link to your channel to my nurse who noticed my guitar and said her son just started playing. She tells me he did use it and he likes you too. I knew he would, I linked him to your video on your morning warm up routine which I thought he'd find useful. I need assistance standing for the first time in my life, but I'm grateful I can still play guitar. If I were a drummer or a sax player I wouldn't be able to play anymore so guitar was in my heart my whole life and I can still play so I look forward to the set-up and developing a routine. It's the first time in many years I have free time and a guitar so I'm always hopeful and optamistic about becoming a better guitar player, and it will be with your help. Thank you for your generosity in sharing what you've learned with us, God bless you and please continue to make these videos. 🙏✌️🎸

@@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you Tomo! Family is first, in this country many times the elderly are just thrown somewhere and my mom was my best friend, it was a pleasure to keep her out of a nursing home, my favorite person to spend time with. She loved music as much as me, I took her to see Sinatra and Paul McCartney and we both loved both shows. Other friends were at Paul McCartney but she was the one I spent the most time with. I'll never forget listening to music all night with her, in her 80s and was a big fan of Led Zeppelin ,Pearl Jam, I would gladly do it again. It wasn't selfless because I wanted to keep her with me, it benefited me! I wish you good health, you and your family!🙏✌️❤️🎸

Tomo! this whole video I was a bit confused, until I thought of this as mixing Aeolian with Ionian, and then it clicked. I'm not sure if that's the best way to think of this, but I try to always think of the scale degrees and how they go together. Anyways thx Tomo. We need more Funk on Guitar Wisdom!!!!!!
