Good quality recording that didn't seem to degenerate over the years now that quality is reproduced digitally and can be watched anytime forever .

I'm neither British or French, but you can't help but feel a tremendous sense of national pride for both of those countries watching this, even after all these years.

Well the Tunnel joined us together in 1994 when it opened but now we're about to be divorced.

Really miss tomorrows world. It seems dated now but I never felt patronised by the presenters in the way you do when watching things like Click. I started work on the tunnel just a few weeks after this was filmed. One of the best jobs I have had. A brilliant achievement that we should be proud of. Sadly Brits seem to prefer whinging and whining about cost and foreigners, despite the fact the Brits use it more than anyone else and it has over time made money.

A prime timeinformative programme covering several aspects in an intelligent way. Why does there not seem to be much of that today?

those "piston vents" proved to be problematic during the channel tunnel fire in 1996 because they allowed toxic smoke from the burning train to end up in the other tunnel. They changed the procedures for freight trains going through the tunnel because of that fire. Also because of that fire, regulation for the Great Belt tunnel in Denmark which opened for trains in 1997 was made so freight trains are not allowed in the tunnels at the same time as passenger trains. This was carried over to the Øresund connection when it opened in 2000, which has the additional rule that freight trains are not allowed through the tunnel and station at Kastrup/Copenhagen Airport, so there's an extra track above ground that takes freight trains around the airport
