Got to tour a top of the line Black Bean trailer camped next to me at the Keweenaw Overland Adventure Retreat (KOAR). The owner, Denny (‪@greyhairedoverlander9142‬), a Bean ambassador walks us around his rig...and what a cool rig it is.

Great video! We own a Mean Bean and are just wrapping our third season with it. The Black Bean is a dream! We’ve loved our Bean trailer. The team there is top of the industry. You’ve really got to see the trailer in person to appreciate the craftsmanship

Yes... my rig probably has three times the real estate ..but no way is it going off the Bitumen... I look at "Bean" configurations on the road and used to think .. how can you live in that? The video I just watched explained it all... Yes you definitely can !!

I love the Mean Bean and Meaner Bean myself. This Black Bean was kick a$$, but I would personally prefer to spend ~$10k or more less LOL. You're right though, seeing these things in person vs on a KZfaq channel is very different. I was very impressed with the unit and can see why so many people love it. Thanks for watching!

I love the concept of the teardrop trailers. Minimalistic design, light and compact. What I cannot overcome is the price on most brands teardrop trailers. For the same price of a nicely equipped teardrop you can get a much bigger trailer/camper with more space for a more comfortable travel/camping
@TomtheDilettante
@TomtheDilettante 4 ай бұрын
Agreed. These things are super cool, but even if I had the money to buy one, I share the same sentiment as you. For the same price (sometimes cheaper...sometimes for only a little more) we could get something more like a "home". If I had a LOT of money, I might get both LOL. Ah well. Just because it's not really right for me doesn't mean it's not still cool as hell :)

@@TomtheDilettante They are sure super cool. I’d rather haul smaller camper, easier to park, move, you burn less gas and bring only minimal stuff you need instead of the whole house. Maybe we can get to a point where enough companies make them so the price can come down. But in this economy? I dont see it happening anytime soon. Until then.. its motocamping with my motorcycle 😁

OK let me try again .. folks are sneering at how expensive this rig is... My Rig cost half the "out of pocket) price but I had to build it for myself once my home burned down and I was left with scant finacial reacourses. .. so I bought a gut shot truck and made it my home .. it took me three years and if I billed myself minimum wages for sll the love and work I put into her ... yeah show me the tab and laugh at me..

I would normally ask if he was smoking crack at 50grand. But if you listen he literally has a lifestyle that he uses it enough that the value is there. Retired, he has the time. But a once a month even only means 12 uses per year. For his particular use case. . .all day long!

Are there any of these off-road trailer types that are well below that? Even the most inexpensive ones I see start at 15 grand Plus
@TomtheDilettante
@TomtheDilettante 10 ай бұрын
@@GamerNxUSN I think wha you found (~$15k) is probably about as low as they get. I had to consider the quality of materials and parts in this thing to put the price into context. The construction quality and materials was excellent, then it incorporates expensive gear from RedArc (electronics), Timbren (suspension), Dometic, etc...). Then the fact they're made to order here in the US, you have US labor costs and overhead. On and on we go ad nauseam. While for $50k I'd probably consider something a bit different for my personal needs, I can understand the price tag on this thing.

Ya know, I never bothered to look that up as an official part of the digital lexicon, but I think you're right. ha. Yeah. It's super cool, but definitely requires (1) a certain level of disposable income and (2) the ability to use it often enough as intended to make it worth it.
